I've just been reading Closer (hmm) and amazed by the celebrities who are 5'6'', 9 1/2 stone, and size 8.
I don't understand. I'm this height and weight and a 12, have always been a 12, and an 8 wouldn't go anywhere near me, top or bottom.
Is it possible to be the same height and weight but such different sizes?
I'm very happy as a 12, just baffled.

Im 5' 3" and approx 9 stone 5. Im a size 8 in most clothes, 10 in others. Sometimes I need a 6, mainly in tops as I'm smaller on my top half.
I like a 12 in jeans.
I find sizing varies a lot from shop to shop.

heron98 · 21/06/2016 15:30

I'm 5 foot 4. No idea what I weigh as don't have any scales but last time I got weighed at the doctors I was 54kg.

I am a size 8 on the bottom and a ten on the top.

But it really depends on the shop.

PatPhelan · 21/06/2016 15:34

I'm 5'8" and 12.8 stone.

16 is just a bit too big and 14 is too tight. Hoping to fit comfortably into a 14 soon - back to pre baby size where I looked in proportion to my body shape.

HyacinthBouquetNo1 · 21/06/2016 15:38

I am

5 ft 3 in
10 st 13 lb
size 14

I am an apple, slim arms and legs, chubby abdo area , I think I look like an egg on cocktail sticksGrin

VioletVaccine · 21/06/2016 15:39

I'm 5'6"
9st12 to 10st4 depending on TOTM,
Size 10-12

I have slim arms and legs, but wide hips and broad shoulders. It's crap really as I look a lot bigger than I am when wearing jeans, and certain dresses make me look like a bodybuilder, which would be fine if I actually was one, but I'm not! Grin

Littlelondoner · 21/06/2016 15:44

Anything from a size 4 (gaps rediculous sizing!) to a size 8. Depends on shop but generally about a size 6 or xs. I am 5"2 7st7 and a curvy petite hourglass. I have thick thighs, hippy with big boobs so theres some styles regardless of sizing I am just not going to fit into.

jubileepancakes · 21/06/2016 15:59

5ft8, 8.8 stone and size 8. Sometimes 10 on bottom half.

I work out a lot and while my top half is very slim and toned, with very small breasts, my thighs are fairly bulky so I guess it all balances out. I'm happy though.

belleandsnowwhite · 21/06/2016 16:05

I am 5ft7 and 8st3lb, I am a 8 or 10 depending on shop.

Fooshufflewickbannanapants · 21/06/2016 16:46

5'4 and vary between 9'6 and 10 stone I'm a 12 on top and a 10 or 12 on the bottom

KeepingitReal2 · 21/06/2016 16:56

I'm a classic example of the dense muscle thing I'm 5ft 8 weight 11stone and I wear an 8 now
I am very toned though muscle wise

clippityclop · 21/06/2016 17:00

5' 1", no idea what I weigh. I'm an 8, always need waists taking in. 34b bra.

scampimom · 21/06/2016 17:08

5'8, weigh somewhere just under 13 stone, and have clothes (that fit) in sizes 8-18. Mostly a size 15, if only there were such a thing. I have 16s that pinch and 14s that are falling off and vice versa.

But yes, I was thinking the self same thing today reading about someone in Closer. Odd.

cantmakeme · 21/06/2016 17:23

5'5"
8st
Size 8-10

iloveeverykindofcat · 21/06/2016 17:29

I truly do not understand how people can judge anything about weight or body fat from dress sizes anymore. There is no consistency to it between shops, styles, brands, etc. I am a hair under 5"4, 8st, and own everything from 6s to 12s. I mean 6?! 6?! What even is 6!? It's insulting - I do not need to be flattered into imagining I'm some tiny size that didn't even exist ten years ago. Equally, I'm quite sure I could be an unhealthy weight - certainly an unhealthy body composition - and still be wearing a size ten if I was selective about it. It's all nonsense. I want standardized measured sizes with actual measurements.

ConcreteUnderpants · 21/06/2016 17:34

I think I look like an egg on cocktail sticks
Me too. Have awesome long slim legs, but a huuuuuge tummy (and big norks).
5ft 7, about 15 stone and a size 18-20

Carrados · 21/06/2016 17:37

5ft11, 13 stone 10 and size 16.

I have lost 2 and a half stone on Slimming World already since November and I have 2 and a half to go to get to target weight of 11 stone 4. Really want to get this next stone off to be healthy bmi and size 14.

MrsGBlythe · 21/06/2016 17:42

5'3", 8 stone and size 6

JaceLancs · 21/06/2016 17:42

I'm the same height as a close friend who is 2 dress sizes larger than me on average (don't get me started on sizes them self that's another issue!)
Friend weighs less than I do
I think it's down to body shape - she is an apple with cocktail stick arms and legs
I'm an hourglass with tree trunk limbs, as I also have a very short torso with long legs all my weight is there - only other difference is I'm a regular at the gym, friend never walks further than couch to kitchen
DD 24 is around a stone overweight according to recent medical for her job, however she shares my body shape and is a size 6-8 with 32F bust and heavy thighs

BobbinThreadbare123 · 21/06/2016 17:52

I'm 5'7" and a size 10-12. I am pretty heavy but I don't know how much. I am pretty strong and lift a lot of weights.

A couple of years ago, I was a size 6 and under 9 stone. I was not very well, and it looked pretty rubbish.

Reasonstostayalive · 21/06/2016 18:17

I'm 5'2 (and a bit), 8 stone 9 and just a size 8 in most shops. But I am muscular from cycling. Also I'm very narrow in the hips.
I used to be 9 stone 10 and a size 14. My hips and bust got very big!

WalkingBlind · 21/06/2016 19:59

5'3"
9ish stone (Just over or under fluctuating)
Size 6/8

My weight is all muscle and boob. This is why I don't believe in slimmers world and other clubs that focus on the numbers on the scales. Weight is not a good judge on body fat, etc.

WalkingBlind · 21/06/2016 20:00

P.s. I have no hips whatsoever

boscros1 · 21/06/2016 20:07

5'6" and 8st 4lb and a 6-8 at that weight. When I'm closer to 9st I'm an 8-10. There's no way I'd be an 8 at 9.5 stone and I have a pretty high density of muscle.

MouseholeCat · 21/06/2016 20:09

5 ft 3, 8 stone, and I'm a 6 on top and for dresses (no boobs and tiny shoulders).

Range from a 6 to a 10 on bottom depending on the store- M&S and Zara I'm a 6, New Look / Topshop / Whistles / Joy an 8, H&M consistently a 10, and once got trousers in a 12.

Because I'm short I also buy basics from teens ranges at times to save money. I'm generally a 12-13 or 13-14.
