I'm old enough to remember not being able to bring much back from holiday, I think it was 1 or 2 litres of spirits.
Also most if not all our equality legislation comes from the EU. The sex discrimination act was a condition of joining, it gave women doing the exact same job as men the same pay. It is the EU that has made the law stronger, making workers who work shorter hours have the same hourly rate, workers who do work 'of equal value' have the same rate thanks to the EU.
I also feel I have more in common with people living in mainland Europe than with David Cameron and his cronies.
I like the idea that if I need medical treatment I can get it abroad, it's only a small thing but has allowed families where someone is on dialysis to travel and receive the dialysis in Benidorm or Mallorca.
I have a cousin who had his appendix taken out is France, as it was a visit to friends the family had not taken out insurance, without the EU who knows what his bill would be.
I also think that anyone who experts to the EU will have to comply with EU regulations and surely it is better to be in the 'club' that makes the rules than outside but still having to obey the rules?
Immigration - well yes there are a lot of people from Poland and other 'eastern European' countries, but the majority are paying tax because they are working and are making lives here, their children will be doctors, nurses, road sweepers, whatever i the future.
Compare that with British people in Spain/France, yes some are working and contributing but many are retirees, if they return then they will put more of a drain on the NHS than a Polish woman having a child.
Also the boarders issue. At the moment British immigration is at Calais, leaving the EU may well move it back to Dover this would make it much easier for illegal immigrants to get in to Britain.
There are an estimated 6000 in the jungle near Calais. Does anyone remember Sangatte? 500 people in the channel tunnel in one day?

er what? My dad was a kid when Europe was at war with itself and millions of people were dying. Not to mention the more recent facist regimes in Spain and Portugal.
People are dying now, not in their millions, not in camps but disabled people are being killed by the British government, it is the EU that is pushing the government back.
