To think 8 stone at 5'4 isn't that slim

I am that weight and height and I often get people telling me how skinny I look and that I need to gain weight.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 18/06/2016 18:14

I can't speak for every ED sufferer, obviously, but i have appraised all the weights on this thread- i can't not do that.

But you can hide the thread though, surely?

Banderwassnatched · 18/06/2016 18:17

No, like i said, i am not drawn to weight loss topics. Maybe others with EDs are, i don't know, but i hardly need to read about Slimming World when I know perfectly well that eating nothing means i gain nothing. Weight loss threads oftem centre on food- i think food is disgusting and therefore am most definitely NOT reading.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/06/2016 18:21

The more I read threads like these the less I worry about my weight and what I look like to others. I would be described by as plump . At the grand age of 44 I have finally realised that people are far more concerned about what they look like and really don't give a shiney shite about me! In a good way. I have 2 gorgeous bikinis to wear on holiday this year (bought off the back of a couple of threads in S&B on the subject of larger women). And I shall wear them with confidence!

Banderwassnatched · 18/06/2016 18:21

WL- tbh that comnent was for the benefit of others, who actually may not have realized that there sre people like me carefully reading, judging, and they may not want that. I know it's horrid. But i can't help that bit.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/06/2016 18:37

Waves at Herman and Violets, here have a pack of these [biscuits]. Violet, are you, me. I was a very skinny teen and early 20's, no effort to watch my weight, I was 7.5 stone, I don't know what happened as I just put on and on, I did not increase my eating, but I did start with the hormone injection which I noticed I put on weight. I have been excersising for 3 years, watching what I eat, and I am still blooming 10 stone, just wont blooming shift.

bigbuttons · 18/06/2016 18:40

Things is 8bander8 although I do sympathise with you I do not feel your ED to be any of my responsibility.
People get off on battered footwear, that's not my issue either.

slowandfrumpy · 18/06/2016 18:42

At 5.4 and 8 stone my periods stopped. Resumed at eight and a half. (I'd been travelling in a foreign country for several months with a lot of meat, and I'm a vegetarian so hadn't eaten much).

ManonLescaut · 18/06/2016 18:44

Manon Because phobias affect people in a completely different way to disordered thoughts about weight loss!

Jesus do we have to take this literally? It's fucking metaphor.

The point is there is much on this forum that could potentially be triggering to different people. We can't stop talking about everything in case we set someone off.

Ultimately the problem is not with MN, it's inside the individual.

IoraRua · 18/06/2016 18:45

Absolutely nothing wrong with being 5ft4 and 8 stone. I was that for years - still am just over it - and never had a problem, looked great too. I did get people saying I was too thin but the vast majority (who bothered to comment) liked my figure. You get rude or jealous people with anything, I think.

If you're happy at it OP, crack on.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 18/06/2016 18:48

I'm that height and weight and I'm definitely slim but not skinny, apart from my chicken legs. Tell people who pass uninvited comments about your weight to piss off.

mumto1babyboy · 18/06/2016 18:48

It is interesting to read.. I just admit . I myself am a former 8'10 5'"6 all my life and reading this trying to loose my baby weight actually depressing BUT if women can't discuss weight with each other than that's poor show. Although it's worrying if there are people with eating disorders reading through this.. It is concerning

HemanOrSheRa · 18/06/2016 18:53

I am heavier than you Aeroflot. I was also under 8st in my teens/20's. As I got into my late 20's it was harder to maintain that weight. And boring. And at times it has made me unwell mentally. If you could line up the women in my family we are all (mostly) short, plump with big boobs, bum and belly. It's something that seems to happen at about 35. My Mum was tiny when she was younger.

I try to watch what I eat, I exercise regularly, I have an active job. I cannot be arsed to worry about it anymore. I really can't.

HelenaDove · 18/06/2016 19:23

Im 5 foot 5 and 11 stone im a size 12 to 14 except when i buy a blouse when i have to take an 18 due to being a 32 HH. Im an hourglass .

I used to be 21 stone.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/06/2016 19:24

Herman I hear you, I even eat much less now, than I did 20 years ago at 19, I am blooming fat. To have that weight that I used to, I would have to literally starve myself. Oh yes, I come from a Mediterranean family, and the ladies are short, stocky and carry weight around our bellies. There was a documentary last week, that highlighted the role of genetics. My dad was tall, athletic and muscular, dame, I am like my mum. No don't carry on what you are doing, you cannot have no treat, have a treat a day. I have a small bar of chocolate or a slice of homemade cake. If I am very stressed at times due to dd who has ASD, at most I double that.

HelenaDove · 18/06/2016 19:24

Sorry didnt quite finish..........i used to be 21 stone and a size 28

Aeroflotgirl · 18/06/2016 19:26

Herman I meant carry on what you are doing, enjoy life and don't get carried away on counting every calorie. Life's too short, just eat sensibly, with a bit of treat and exercise regularly and that's fine.

HelenaDove · 18/06/2016 19:26

Aeroflot my mum is Italian. I dont get my boobs from her though (shes an A cup) it comes from my British gran.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/06/2016 19:28

Helena I have a 32 FF, and have to buy bigger tops to accommodate them. They started growing at an early age along with my hips and shoulders.

Banderwassnatched · 18/06/2016 19:30

Bb- what form does your sympathy take, exactly? I'll be honest, 'not my problem' is not the most sympathetic thing i've ever heard.

I have refrained from posting my weight, height or dress size on ths thread. I know posting it will make someone feel like shit, so i refrain. I have sympathy for them. When someone posted their measureme ts here, i dud not reply with my opinion of their weight- it might hurt them. I have sympathy for them.

OohMavis · 18/06/2016 19:30

I'm 5'4". When I was 8st I was quite slim but still curvy, had thighs and a shapely bum. It totally depends on the way you are, if you're not meant to be that size you may look gaunt, but not everyone will.

HelenaDove · 18/06/2016 19:30

Aeroflot i dont do that. To stay at this weight there is NO WAY i can eat choc or cake anywhere near that often. I have to keep my sugar intake very low to maintain my weight.

I eat cake on special occasions only..........it works out to be 4 or 5 times a year.

HelenaDove · 18/06/2016 19:33

YY Aeroflot And i bet you find that those tops are big on the shoulders and arms and theres loads of material around the back.

pristinechristine · 18/06/2016 19:34

Depends on build and age I think. I'm 5'3" and 8 stone is the slimmest I've ever been as an adult but that was around 21 and it was fine. Slim but not too skinny. Now as I approach 40 I look quite gaunt around the face at even 8.5 stone although I still carry weight on my tummy and arms...8 stone I think now I would look a bit ill. About 10 years ago I slimmed down to 8 stone 3 through stress and quite a few people told me not to lose anymore.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/06/2016 19:35

Hi Helena that was for herman. I have to have one treat a day as a reward or it will just be long and boring. Life is for living, as long as you are sensible than its ok. I have to have some gum when I feel my hand reaching for the biscuit tin, or have a glass of squash. Unless you have a medical condition that you have to restrict your sugar or fat intake, a little treat is no harm in the grand scheme of things.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/06/2016 19:36

Yes they helena they are baggy on the back and the tummy area, I also like them loose on the tummy tough, due to my saggy apron at the front that hides it, but I think it makes me look larger.
