I am going to a bit vague as I don't want to out myself.
We are a group of 6 friends from uni. We have remained close although more effort is now required to meet up as we live around the country.
We have all been invited to a social occasions which is in a city close to where say friend a lives. It is in a city some 15 miles away from friend a's house.
Friend b has booked accommodation in the city.
Friend c had done the same and planned to bring her sister with her. (Friend c doesn't drive)
Me and friend d drive but don't live driving in unfamiliar cities. So seeing that a and b were sorted asked friend a if they could take us. Friend a was driving anyway and we can have a car full with partners.
Now friend b's sister has backed out so wanted to stay at friend a's house. Friend a had to say no as she would have no room in the car .
Friend b is really upset as she has now had to cancel trip because she doesn't want to stay in the booked accommodation on her own.
She thinks me and friend d are bu as we have cars and she doesn't.
So my jury should one of us bite the bullet and drive or pay for a taxi to keep the peace and enable friend b to attend.
We have all paid for hotels too as too far to do in a day
My jury what do you think please.

Did you get mixed up or am I? I thought friend c was the one with the sister? Aren't b and c now both in the booked accommodation with no sister?

I have read your post a few times and don't get who is who. I don't understand the not wanting to drive in unfamiliar cities either. Surely you can drive or not.

I think you've mixed this up possibly? You say b and c booked accommodation, friend c was bringing her sister. Then you say b's sister backed out (I assume you mean c) and that b is upset because she doesn't want to stay in accommodation on her own but since b and c were in the accommodation I don't see why anyone is there on their own even without the sister (whoever's sister it actually is!)

Are you and d staying over anywhere?

Friend b is staying in one hotel in city with her dh.
Friend c booked a cheaper b and b but refuses to stay on her own as it is still too expensive for one. The city is a pricey one.
Tbf I think her finances are tighter than ours but it strikes me that she seems to expect free accommodation and transport.

queen I am driving down same day (150 miles) after looking after Dd for half a day. So yes I want to avoid struggling to park in an unfamiliar city. Would also like to have a drink or two. Friend a dh is driving so she can drink too.

Why don't you reserve hotel parking and then just put it in your sat nav and have a drink when you get in to the hotel

I am paying for a hotel. Just thought it would be nice to stay nearer friend a so can meet up next morning before driving home. But accept I am getting lift but will of course pay for parking.

Why can't people give names?! It makes it much easier to follow.

Won't get back to hotel till quite late as event goes on till midnight. Maybe I should have booked a closer hotel to the event. Lesson learnt.

As others have said your op is a bit confusing, but summing up does it mean everyone apart from her (with a limited income) will be arriving alongside a 'plus one' ?
If this is the case it's kind of understandable that she would feel a bit of a 'spare' compared to the other arrangements and want to be closer to the hub.

Why on earth would you book a hotel 15 miles from the venue meaning you need a lift there and back? Surely you could have booked a hotel nearest the venue and driven to see A the next morning.
