Why isn't London lighting up for Orlando?

All over the world prominent landmarks were lit up in rainbow colours to show respect and solidarity for the victims of the Orlando massacre and their loved ones.

After the Paris and Brussels massacres London lit up the London Eye, the National Gallery, the London Eye and other landmarks. Why aren't we doing the same for Orlando? Is it because they were Americans, or is it because they were gay?

I wasn't going to respond to the 'Muslim mayor' comment. I reported it instead.

I have a strong suspicion that that is what this thread was started for.

And I found the OP extremely offensive. At first, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. However, that was eroded by the responses.

I'm not professionally offended about the original post. Perhaps it was clumsily phrased or typed too quickly. What bothered me was the tsunami of aggressive responses she got. Anyone would think she'd posted something truly twisted.

What's the excuse for the fact the initial post was based on bollocks? The op clearly hadn't even turned on the bloody news or looked at a paper or news website. If she had then she would have seen photos of vigils in London and videos as well. So for whatever reason she started this thread, I can almost guarantee it wasn't a good one. So keep defending the op papaya but be aware it just makes you look like you're being contrary for the sake of it.

I am sad and angry in equal measures about the Orlando massacre, as I'm sure is everyone else (apart from homophobic fucktards). However I have never understood this hysteria about we must show our support by lighting up London (or wherever) for Orlando or Paris or Brussels. What does it achieve? Does it make you more sad or angry? No of course it doesn't. Does it make you less sad or angry? Of course not. Will it stop the next massacre wherever it may be? No of course it won't. It achieves fuck all.

So get over yourself OP and live your life.
