Lost sunglasses. Who is BU?

Out today with DH (although he's not v D at the mo). Sunny then poured with rain so he gave me his sunglasses (I always have to take a huge bag for his sunglasses, orthotics, jumper etc). Then sun came back out, looked for glasses, not there. Admittedly they are Ray Bans so not cheap and he loves them but it's entirely my fault. I was careless. I don't care about his things. I have no idea where they went. I didn't deliberately lose them. There is a whole other thread about his subsequent behaviour but I can't help thinking it's not actually my fault. Honestly don't know how they disappeared.

My alpha make DH looks great with his man bag (a rugged little canvas number) and happily carries waterproofs, sunscreen, water bottles et al while I trip along merrily with a little handbag.

I'd have though a man of Southern European heritage would have no issue with a man bag I regularly see French/Italian/Spanish men carrying them.

God, I hate the expression "man bag". It's a bag. To carry stuff. Because people have stuff they need to carry.

Men are not toddlers- they don't need a woman to pretend their broccoli is a forest of trees to persuade them to eat it.

BertradnRussell a manbag is real thing. It's held by a wriststrap and about the size of a large paperback book, normally seen held by older German or Italian gents. I would struggle to take my husband seriously with such a bag. A backpack or messenger bag though - that's what's needed here.

My hunch would be that in refusing to take his stuff you might have stumbled upon a miracle cure for his feet which means he no longer needs various different orthotics!

I am curious as to who manages his orthotic collection if he needs to leave the house without you.

"Men should embrace 'camp', if carrying things is camp(?) so that it loses a negative connotation, then they can proudly carry all the crap they need just as much as the other members of their family. "

Sorry- I forgot to add "FFS" to that C&P.!

AnnaMarlowe · 13/06/2016 11:01

Bertrand it was my DH who first refered to it a "man bag", so it would seem impolite of me not to use his specified nomenclature. And buying it was also his own idea.

He's very tall, infantilising him would look very silly (and he likes broccoli)

You don't need to be offended on behalf of Mners' OHs. I'm pretty sure they're mostly managing fine on their own. Grin
