Oh I know what you mean! I have 'special' bottles that I like to keep for an occasion. Can you come up with an idea for an occasion? A reason to celebrate with a nice bottle of wine? :)

MidnightRunner87 · 10/06/2016 18:49

Open it....there's not that many special Friday's to be hanging around for Wine

NoCapes · 10/06/2016 18:49

Abraiid1 · 10/06/2016 18:50

And talking of the Queen, you could always say you were opening a special one to be patriotic?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 10/06/2016 18:51

OP posts:
KnockMeDown · 10/06/2016 18:53

Also, it's not just any old Friday. Apart from being the Queen's official birthday, here is a link to more things to celebrate today www.checkiday.com/ one of these should appeal?

bumbleymummy · 10/06/2016 18:54

There you go! Congratulations! 🎉🎉🎉 Grin

TheTurtleMoves · 10/06/2016 18:55

Have you seen the film Sideways (it's great - worth a watch). Anyway the lead character is a total wine buff and saves lots of bottles. And he meets an equally fanatic wine buff and he says he's saving some special vintage for a special occasion and she says, "the day you open some special vintage IS a special occasion."

I always keep that advice in mind.

even though I mainly have cheap and cheerful wine in

Queenbean · 10/06/2016 18:55

I had a lovely bottle of Perrier jouet Belle Époque that I kept for about 3 years.

Special occasion rolled around.... It was flat and all yellow. Really gross.

I know never keep "nice" wine. Drink it. No more special occasion than the present!

StealthPolarBear · 10/06/2016 18:56

Sometimes it is so much nicer to just open a nice bottle on an ordinary evening.

jay55 · 10/06/2016 19:02

My new years resolution was to stop saving the best for a special day and to enjoy it. Glasses, booze, bras, I'm enjoying it all. Open the wine.

BarbaraofSeville · 10/06/2016 19:07

I open a bottle of prosecco nearly every Friday at 8 pm. Feels like such a treat even if it cost a fiver from aldi. I'm sure the people who gave you your birthday wine want you to drink it not save it no matter how special it is. Is it normal, a bit treaty or very very special wine.

Kidnapped · 10/06/2016 19:07

Start of the Euros football in France tonight.

If it is French wine then it is a sign.

BarbaraofSeville · 10/06/2016 19:08

That's a lovely resolution Jay
