I conduct funerals and I did one the other day for a lovely man who had died very suddenly. His wife was distraught, obviously, but one of the things that made her burst into tears (among many others) was opening the cupboard and seeing the wine he'd been saving for a special day for over 2 years.

Drink the wine. Life's too short.

Sorry - am feeling maudlin' after opening a bottle of wine myself...

From Nora Ephron, following the death of her best friend who was gone in only a few months, the victim of breast cancer. And that reminds me to say something about bath oil. I use this bath oil I happen to love. It’s called Dr Hauschka’s lemon bath. It costs about £15 a bottle, which is enough for about two weeks of baths if you follow the instructions.
The instructions say one capful per bath. But a capful gets you nowhere. A capful is not enough. I have known this for a long time.
But if the events of the last few years have taught me anything, it’s that I’m going to feel like an idiot if I die tomorrow and I skimped on bath oil today.
So I use quite a lot of bath oil. More than you could ever imagine. After I take a bath, my bathtub is as dangerous as an oil slick. But thanks to the bath oil, I’m as smooth as silk.

Definitely drink the wine. There's no point saving it for a special occasion: then you'll have to share it!

I had a bottle of exceptionally good wine that was being saved for a 'special occasion'. The trouble is that as time went by, the ante was upped to the point where I couldn't any longer think of a single occasion special enough to justify opening it.

So I decided, one evening, to just open it and drink it with a bath. It was one heck of a weight off my shoulders. Grin

Hope you're enjoying yours. Smile

Always drink the wine! I'm willing my dd to go to sleep as I can practically hear the condensation dripping down the bottle of prosecco I have in the fridge! It's been a long half term but pre school is open again on Monday! Hooray!!
