To think that Noel Edmonds might just..

..have something there. Not all of his twaddle, but the bit about dying.

I'm not a scientist or a weirdo, but it seems to be an indisputable fact that energy can't cease to exist. And we are made from energy. Our eyes, hearts, livers, the house we live in, the toilet roll we use, the cat litter (which needs cleaning, oops) - their fundamental forms all are energy. Electrons, protons neutrons.

So..

"Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it transforms from one form to another"

So whilst we may stop living in the traditional sense, our energy doesn't.

(I might add I'm not a hippie/druggie/troller/religious fanatic, or particularly sentimental)

Can anyone give me a point of view?

I feel daft talking about it in real life. And I think I might feel a bit dafter after posting this Blush

Thanks liney it's theoretically possible but isn't physically? Like bumblebees flying? I don't know. Way over my head. And Noel's I suspect.

To put it bluntly he should go shag Mr Blobby. Many of us have had to sit with relatives as they die from cancer and that experience stays with you. To hear someone yelling because the morphine doesn't work anymore is awful and Edmonds should be made to do it.

TheoriginalLEM · 09/06/2016 22:11

Purple - i think we are singing from the same hymn sheets just a different perspective.

ApricotSorbet99 · 09/06/2016 22:12

No, I don't think Noel Edmonds "has a point". Or at least, not one that isn't blindlingly obvious to everyone who has bothered to think about it.

If you want immortality, OP, you've already got it. The atoms that you're made of were born a long, long time before you were and they will continue to exist long after you've decomposed (or been burnt).

Somewhere you inside you is an atom that once existed inside Shakespeare (or any other historical person you care to come up with). Is Shakespeare enjoying his immortality?

PurpleDaisies · 09/06/2016 22:14

ego's described exactly what I meant. Light energy is stored as chemical energy in the plant (in the chemical bonds between the atoms). This is released by the cells and stored as ATP so they can use it when they need it. This also generates heat which is "wasted" as it is transferred to the surroundings. It's a classic GCSE question-every transferred from one form to another with the same total amount staying in the system.

TheoriginalLEM · 09/06/2016 22:14

Yes but im not sure if that was the energy purple was referring to in her food post. Although she may have been. ....I've got a head ache now :)

TheoriginalLEM · 09/06/2016 22:15

oh, cross posted, yeah she was Grin

juststoppit · 09/06/2016 22:16

Sorry to previous poster. I meant no harm - the twaddle he came out with included the idiotic statement about cancer being caused by negative energy. I have no parents either thanks to that shit, and they brimmed with goodness.

I just picked up up on the tiny bit that resounded with me.

I take Noel Edmonds' expositions on physics and medicine about as seriously as the colour of his beard.

Beepbopboop · 09/06/2016 22:24

What do you think happens to the animals we eat and the "energy" (calories) it contains?

2boysnamedR · 09/06/2016 22:24

But you was just random atoms since the Big Bang. Only now are they formed into creating you.

Laws of physics say everything wants to return to caous. Another theroy is that ultimately atoms will degenerate back to their primary parts long long after the universe dies.

You eat things, breath air. It becomes part of you for a while then you excrete it. Then it's no long part of you really.

Same once you die I guess if your thinking along those lines.

AGreatBigWorld · 09/06/2016 22:25

Speaking as the partner of someone battling cancer I would love a few minutes with NE to tell him what I think of his twaddle. Failing that I wish he would find a large black hole and jump into it never to be seen again!!!!!

TheoriginalLEM · 09/06/2016 22:25

nah - that'll be electrons. Sooo negative they repel each other!!

LineyReborn · 09/06/2016 22:26

justdonteven my understanding is that perpetual motion is impossible because a 100% efficient transfer of energy within a contained machine is not possible.

In fact the whole universe is winding down. This is entropy.

expatinscotland · 09/06/2016 22:27

He's a stupid, insulting, thoughtless cunt of the highest order. A moron, a git, a dickhead and a sorry wee troll. I hope the fellow leprechauns come and take him away.

expatinscotland · 09/06/2016 22:28

If he has a point I can't see it. Is there a point to cockwombles like him?

Sparklingbrook · 09/06/2016 22:29

A crematorium in the county actually heats a public swimming pool. Grin

Noel Edmonds has gone a bit weird. I used to like him on Swap Shop. Sad

shazzarooney999 · 09/06/2016 22:29

They say that everyone is born with cancer its just whever it develops or not and im sure its getting more common and its more to do with the way we are living and all the products we use these days.

I have never belived in the after life and stuff like that, but when we were young my dad went to a fortune teller and she said 3 people in the family would die within a year, an old person a middle aged person and a young person, it did actually happen.

Now the last 9 months have been tough for me, my mum died in Oct, my best aunty died in Jan and now my dad has cancer, anyway a couple of weks after my mum died a little robin landed on my front gate when i was having a cig at the front, the robin then jumped onto the fence then the grass and it looked straight at me, now this happened a couple of times, i have to say this has never ever ever happened before.

And today i had a little bird land on the bike wheel right by me, it looked at me and flew away, and something similar happened last week, now in all the 9 years ive been living at this house none of this stuff has ever happened till after my mum and aunty died. so i dont know ive always always been skeptical.

It is a little bit romantic. To quote the late great Carl Sagan - we are made of starstuff. Every single atom in our bodies, our planet, was born in the heart of a star.

Noel Edmonds is a fucking mentalist though.

LineyReborn · 09/06/2016 22:35
