I'm fully prepared to be told that I am VU/a snob/a fucking cunting bastard etc.

Fully prepared.

But more and more and more since the recent DM shite I've noticed 'hun'ing creeping into over half the threads I click on.

It makes my teeth itch. I always want to say something but I don't want to be that arsehole.

I don't know why it annoys me. I'm not a snob so it's not that. It's just so bloody twee.

I say BLEURGH to huns
And will point them out wherever I see them.

Janefromdowntheroad · 08/06/2016 06:30

YANBU

It would never have been acceptable years ago. We ran the child modelling, pram loving huns off the boards we need to stamp it out wherever possible Grin

At the most extreme you can give an unmumsnety hug if someone dies. Thats it.

KERALA1 · 08/06/2016 06:45

Dd aged 7 has befriended a gorgeous little boy in her class. Mum is very glamorous blonde, very nice but Huns and babes every other word. She doesn't have a Dd and has formed a real bond with Dd who idolises her and copies her and goes there for tea often. Hence I now have a 7 year old "Hun" living in our midst. What to do?

princesspineapple · 08/06/2016 06:50

Oh bloody hell... I'm one of those ! people Blush I promise to try harder.
Also... In the interests of over defending myself, the princess thing in my NN is because I craved pineapple when I was pregnant with DD and DP used it ironically a couple of times based on Princess Peach from Mario because I like games outs self entirely I'm not actually a princess with frills and the like.
Hun is awful. It makes my skin crawl. Not as bad as yummy mummy though [vom]

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 08/06/2016 07:06

KERALA. Wash her mouth out with soap of course!

It's difficult isn't it because whatever you say to her about it is bound to get repeated to the other Mum 😁 I think I'd risk 'Children don't say that, only adults' if they don't wish to live long

LO. I have to defend this though. I use this and I know some others do too, to describe young children in our care that aren't actually our DC, if we don't wish to describe the nature of the relationship all the time. No need to use it instead of DS or DD though, but it doesn't bother me - I'll save that ire for 'My lil princess'/prince' worse still pwincess, pwince.

I will 'love' & 'lovely' on Relationships/Bereavement/Illness threads without a second thought, as I would IRL. Please save your ire for the Huns & bubz 😁

LazySusan11 · 08/06/2016 07:11

I saw this on f/ache yesterday in someone's bio.

"Loving wife and full time mummy to our beautiful princess"

There's definitely an influx of hubbys sweethearts and xxx :) Mumsnet is no longer a safe space dividing us between the NM Huns.

Janefromdowntheroad · 08/06/2016 07:37

KERALA1 · 08/06/2016 08:03

You haven't lived til your 7 year old has called you "babes"

Silvercatowner · 08/06/2016 08:06

Husband called me 'babe' yesterday. I'm 55. He won't do that again.

coffeetasteslikeshit · 08/06/2016 08:07

YANBU. It's so fake and cringey.

lamusic · 08/06/2016 08:07

skivvywoman · 08/06/2016 08:09

I am unconvinced that 'hunning' and the dislike of it is anti-working class. In fact - the concept is nonsense. My sister in law - who is so elegant she pisses Sancerre and shits White Stuff - is a terrible 'hunner'. Not to me. She only pulled that stunt the once Grin. Whenever I hear her say it the insincerity is dripping in her tone!

WellErrr · 08/06/2016 09:11

Yy usual.

HappiestMummyAlive is a memorable one for being a GF on the baby with meningitis thread.

DeathpunchDoris · 08/06/2016 09:17

Queenbean · 08/06/2016 09:18

"so elegant she pisses Sancerre"

I'm having this engraved on my headstone when I go Grin
