To think that Waitrose should tell me their sanitary towels are perfumed!!?

Arghhh just that!

I bought some Waitrose sanitary towels with wings & 'triple odour protection'...

No where on the packaging does it say perfumed but on unwrapping, it's unmistakeable. That's right the triple odour protection is in fact nauseating perfume!!

What on earth are their sales/marketing team thinking?

These should be hygienic not another way to subtley suggest your nether regions need deodorising!

Tbh, I'm more disgusted by the marketing! I would never ever buy perfumed sanitary towels...They're being deliberately underhand IMO with their euphemistic 'triple odour protection'!

I've written to them so will be interested to see their response but I'm just so peed off at companies thinking we're stupid and take any opportunity to hoodwink us.

And don't get me started on the size of chocolate bars these days...

Just take your Waitrose bags to sainsburies! Own brand, u perfumed, with wing's les than a quid........more money for ........other stuff

When will manufacturers realise: perfume in sanitary products = thrush for a great deal of folk 😡

I thought I'd be getting quality & honesty from Waitrose-mistaken indeed. It's put me right off them, free coffee & paper will not soothe thrush...😉

I started a thread recently about manky Always pads: restarted my cycle after 19 months (pregnancy/breastfeeding) and the REEK of the things was unbelievable. They had sat in a cupboard for almost 2 years, but the pong just about knocked me out.

PERFUMED towels?! Thank Christ I rarely shop at Waitrose, that's all manner of wrong!
Nothing perfumed should be down there, that's ridiculous....
If they have to perfume it, then they should definitely say! People with allergic reactions to that sort of stuff and all that....

And yet, as I found out when you point this out to them, they choose to ignore your point and reassure you that they're hypoallergenic etc!! Fact is if they didn't use perfume they wouldn't have to allergy test them.

In my 'naivety' I'd just assumed 'triple protection' meant three layers or something but no it means PERFUME...Arghhh.

Without being too crude, if the smell is an issue, change the pad more often. (Good for sales as well, surely?!)

And yes, I would assume 'odour protection' meant some kind of fabric technology to contain any odour.

Not 'We've sprayed the fuck out of it with chemicals to mask any odour'.

Is this a Mumsnet thing? I never even noticed if anything I brought was perfumed until I saw threads on here about it and it really doesn't bother me either way. Have never heard of this issue in RL.

It's impossible to discern whether or not they're perfumed, isn't it?
As far as I know, no sensible woman wants them ,so what is going on that we are having to struggle to find the unscientific kind?
As someone said earlier,Sainsburys basics are unscented and perfectly good enough for the job.

I use Naty brand now as was getting constant thrush from all the perfumed rubbish. They're also biodegradable etc but are as good as regular pads. I get them online as my local tesco doesn't stock them. Worth a try for anyone having probs. They don't have the super plasticky feel either.

If you're not too embarrassed I'd take them back and demand a refund! Waitrose customer services are usually really good.

I do the sniff test now before buying sanpro! Lillets towels don't smell, nor do wilko.

I changed to cloth when the chemical content of most towels got too much for me - even the non perfumed ones now contain some form of fungal itching powder as far as I can tell

I've disguarded towels and tampons completely and have started using a mooncup. It's taken some getting used to, but it feels so much more natural and clean (once you get the hang of it).

Bodyform have unscented towels which have the added bonus of not feeling like plastic.

I use Tesco value ones. They aren't scented either .
