To think that Waitrose should tell me their sanitary towels are perfumed!!?

Arghhh just that!

I bought some Waitrose sanitary towels with wings & 'triple odour protection'...

No where on the packaging does it say perfumed but on unwrapping, it's unmistakeable. That's right the triple odour protection is in fact nauseating perfume!!

What on earth are their sales/marketing team thinking?

These should be hygienic not another way to subtley suggest your nether regions need deodorising!

😡

I went to 2 tesco and a sainsburys yesterday and none of them had their own brand pads.
I picked up some night towels thinking they would do but they stank. Why do night time ones need to be scented?

I use a mooncup in the day but prefer not to at night.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 07/07/2016 18:00

I have a vision of women in supermarket aisles up and down the country suspiciously sniffing packets of pads before deciding if they go in the trolley Grin

russetbella1000 · 08/07/2016 22:35

I used to use the mooncup-it was great. After baby, I didn't change it though and I think I might need a bigger one...I can remember vaguely that you need to change it after children and just haven't got round to it 😉

Menstrual blood = Fine
Menstrual blood + 'fragrance' = Rank

As long as people are changing their pads often enough and washing, there is absolutely no need to try to cover up any smell with disgusting chemicals.

Buy washable products.

AppleMagic · 08/07/2016 23:28

I have a fragrance allergy which causes contact dermatitis so i'd be interested in their definition of "hypoallergenic".

colouringinagain · 08/07/2016 23:33

Oh no not another company gone scented! These are so gross.

Yes please to a campaign!

peacefuleasyfeeling · 08/07/2016 23:49

Waitrose also stock Natracare sanpro which are not only unfragranced but totally ecotastic in every way. To complement mooncup, of course.

peacefuleasyfeeling · 08/07/2016 23:52

And this fragrancing crap is just shaming. I despair.

UterusUterusGhali · 08/07/2016 23:59

It's definitely a problem in real life, elefant.

My dd said she was with her friends at school once and they could tell she was on her period because of the smell of an unused one in her blazer pocket wafting about. Blush
(I'd accidentally bought scented)

It's such a nasty smell!

Littlefiendsusan · 09/07/2016 00:04

russet I bought this San-pro too. Was shocked and appalled, like you, to find it scented. All hail the customer services of Waitrose though, they refunded my pads, one box opened and were suitably horrified at the thought of perfumed pads 😄

russetbella1000 · 09/07/2016 23:06

Littlefiendsusan write a letter to head office, they wrote back & included a generous gift voucher 😉BUT, it still misses the point. Their letter focussed not on the fact the packaging is using the euphemism 'triple protection' to mean PERFUME/SMELLY CHEMICALS but merely explained that nothing used should cause irritation etc as the towels were hypoallergenic. They completely ignored (deliberately?)the actual issue.

They are continuing to sell a product that has misleading labelling to say the least.

Triple protection does not automatically translate as perfumed. In my mind they need to change the packaging otherwise it's just dishonest....

I'll perhaps see what advertising standards has to say...

SoupDragon yes bodyform are unscented as are Boots and Sainsbos and Tescos normal brand. (Eg not value for supermarket).

I always use Sainsbos or tescos and recently bought morrisons pantyliners all unscented all cheaper than always which I used to buy.

SuperFlyHigh · 09/07/2016 23:17

peaceful I'd love to say I liked Natracare Eco towels but the one time I tried them i found almost all of them were either not enough for my heavy flow or didn't stick on properly. I did persevere too. Pity.

YvaineStormhold · 09/07/2016 23:20

I sniff packets. Don't care. Sooner that than suffer flap burn.

Bodyform in the orange packet, and co-op's own are unsecured.

Bodyform are the holy grail, because they're wingless too.

YvaineStormhold · 09/07/2016 23:20

Unscented. DYAC

apple1992 · 09/07/2016 23:21

Ouch! Recently (mistakenly) bought scented loo roll and came up in a rash so would also be peeved to unwrap scented sanitary towels!

SoupDragon · 09/07/2016 23:30

Bodyform are the holy grail, because they're wingless too.

The night ones have wings.

I like wings.

Cakescakescakes · 10/07/2016 00:39

I find the Naty brand better than Natracare in terms of absorbency etc. Both eco brands and no nasty chemicals.

Solina · 10/07/2016 00:49

This is why I go around smelling all the packs like a crazy person before buying them.
I normally go with bodyform and stock up when they are on offer. They are non scented :)
