So I've just found out something I shouldn't have...

Completely by accident... DP was in the bathroom getting ready for bed, he'd left his phone in the bedroom with the radio on. A song came on that I really hate by Ellie Goulding so I opened his phone to switch stations, and it opened on a whatsapp chat he was having with my best friend, where he'd sent her photos of the engagement ring he's just bought.

I feel so bad that I know this! And to make matters worse I had to keep the radio on the same bloody song so he wouldn't know I'd seen!

I found mine before hubby proposed. He still doesn't know 10 years later. I thought I had ruined it BUT I still wasn't prepared for the emotion of it all Smile

I just find it odd that the guy should show the OPs friend before her.

THe OP should have been the first one to see the ring, not her mate.
Wouldn't she want to show the friend herself?

MrsKeats it was inspired by a vintage ring- he had a new one made for me in platinum (the original was white gold) and with a bigger, rectangle stone (original was square) that was better quality.

pearlylum my friend actually helped him pick the ring! He sent her the picture when he went to pick my one up after it was made. It's that little bit more special to me because my two favourite people chose my ring for me together Grin

Does he? I would want it kept under wraps until it was given, and why the OPs best friend? A strange choice.

Sorry but I would be livid if my OH had shown my best friend the ring before giving it to me, it's far too special, too personal, too intimate.

He wasn't showing it to her though... she helped him pick it (and I was the one who told him, if/when we get to that stage, if you need help, ask her) so she already knew!

Pearlylum, OP's best friend would know her tastes, and she helped him pick the right ring accordingly. And I know I would be bursting with excitement to share that with someone.

It's not like OP's friend tried the ring on or anything. He sent her a snapshot.
