To wonder how anyone gets their washing dry in this weather?

Boring subject so sorry! But I am genuinely wondering. I did a load about two days ago and I've just had to redo it as it wasn't drying and was starting to smell musty. I have a tumble dryer but it can't be used on everything. The heating is on full blast and it still isn't drying! When it's a nice sunny day I can all my washing including bedding done all in the same day.

I put stuff on an airer (sp?) if it doesn't tumble dry and usually stick stuff in (depending on price) even if it says it doesn't tumble dry and I haven't ruined anything yet!

MrsSpecter · 01/06/2016 17:57

Dehumidifier and drying racks in the hotpress. Clothes go in at night and dry by the morning. But we have baking hot weather here so no need at the minute which is great. Sorry OP!

Toomuch2young · 01/06/2016 17:57

Where are you OP? Been lovely summer for 10 days in the northwest?

Nicknamegrief · 01/06/2016 17:58

Clothes horse next to an open window or if you can get a Lakeland heated clothes horse.

On behalf of The North- welcome to our world. Grin

It's almost always raining where we are but for the past week it's been blue skies, beaming sunshine and a good strong breeze. Perfect.

kipperydippery · 01/06/2016 18:14

This thread has made my day : )

Move the the sunny NW OP. We have amazing weather here, I have run out of things to wash....

That is a sentence I never thought I would type!

x2boys · 01/06/2016 18:15

I was out in my garden yesterday at 8am and it was boiling Enid cooler today but still niceSmile

Onlyicanclean10 · 01/06/2016 18:17

What can't you tumble dry? There's one wool top I can't and that sits on a radiator.

Couldn't be arsed with the faff of a bloody line. Fuck that.

londonrach · 01/06/2016 18:19

Lakeland heated airer....

LillyBugg · 01/06/2016 18:20

The south east has been bloody miserable for a few days now. Torrential rain. And my heating has even clicked on its so bloody cold!

But in answer to the OP, it must be damp in your house? My washing dries just fine on an ordinary airer sat in the kitchen. Never had a problem with musty clothes.

EnidButton · 01/06/2016 18:20

x2 Nice isn't it? Smile I actually don't like it too hot so today is perfect.

iamdivergent · 01/06/2016 18:21

It's gorgeous here so outside currently.

Normally a mixture of tumble dryer and we also have a pulley.

MyMurphy · 01/06/2016 18:21

Hang mine above the Aga Grin

jeavcike · 01/06/2016 18:21

We haven't the space for a tumble dryer so we spin dry everything and then put it on the airer. We also have over-radiator airer for things like socks and pants. Wash little loads every day and don't have a day off or else it moves up.

seeyounearertime · 01/06/2016 18:21

washer dryer.

put it in, 2.5hours later and i put it in the drawers (yes without ironing, screw ironing, i hate it)

jeavcike · 01/06/2016 18:21

mounts up

ssd · 01/06/2016 18:22

its gorgeous here for once

Foofoobum · 01/06/2016 18:25

It's been 25deg and sunny here since the weekend so we hang it out - which is very rare for Scotland - mil has a heated drying rack thing which looks pretty useful

StillRabbit · 01/06/2016 18:25

I only use the tumble dryer if absolutely necessary so no more than a few times a year. I use the line outside as much as possible and have two clothes horses on the go the rest of the time. We also have our heating set on a low thermostat (will only come on if below 17.5 degrees) but none of my washing takes more than two days to dry. I do space it out on the racks so that the air circulates though. House is well ventilated so no dampness.

x2boys · 01/06/2016 18:25

Yes Enid its lovely the kids sre a lovely healthy colour for onceGrin

branofthemist · 01/06/2016 18:26

I tumble dry everything for about 15 mins as it Gets the creases out. Then put on the airer. Or hang up things that are going on hangers

Diamogs · 01/06/2016 18:36

Midlife they are not as expensive as you would think - mine costs £78 a year to run - £1.50 a week to not have to hang damp clothes around the house and also no need to iron doesn't seem excessive to me.

I'm in the Midlands and it has been bucketing it down all week so I am using the T/D. I do line dry if it is nice weather.
