to ask a really embarrassing question about farting?

This is waaaaay too much information but I'm just wondering if this is normal or happens to anyone else...

Since having DS1 5 months ago I've found that when I fart, instead of it going out backwards, i.e. behind me, it comes forwards, as in between my legs. Particularly when sat or laid down. The really gross thing is if it's a 'bubble fart' (where it comes out feeling like bubbles rather than a puff of air - DH assures me that he gets both types of fart too) sometimes I feel one of the bubbles go up my fanny, actually entering my vagina! And even worse, when I sit up, I feel it come back out. It's gross!

Please please tell me I'm not the only one!

Just enjoy yourflatulence! I've had to emancipate flatus that has tried to renter the body involving lays of leg spreading and manoeuvres. Never quite worked out if it smells escaping for the second time.
I've always been neat & tucked away down there /points/ so it's always rolled round the crescent of pleasure until it found its escape route. Turns out 6yo Dd is the same and afaik she's not had any babies yet

BlueSpanishEyes · 22/05/2016 23:09

This happens to me all the time since I had ds last year! Midwife checked me over when I told her but said its normal!
The worst part is that I had a c section! But apperently just the baby's head pressing down on your pelvic area or whatever can cause this to happen. It feels so weird though!
Somebody up thread mentioned the dreaded bath back flow-
This happens to me all the time, but it is normal then??

scarednoob · 22/05/2016 23:10

Pelvic floor exercises for you OP Wink

scarednoob · 22/05/2016 23:12

(And if that sounds rude, I know because I had the same thing happen post c section - and a delightful bonus where bending over would seem to create an air bubble up there that I could not shift - but a few extra squeezes got rid!)

inlovewithhubby · 22/05/2016 23:13

Every woman in RL I have spoken to about bath back flow has experienced it. Makes me feel eugh about swimming in tampons now though... Apparently just not quite the right seal it once was - I weep for the vag I once had

StarryIllusion · 22/05/2016 23:14

foof Or perhaps we should call it flaptulence? Short for flap rattling flatulence.

inlovewithhubby · 22/05/2016 23:15

Tight seal not right seal though clearly not a right fucking seal either

BertieBotts · 22/05/2016 23:19

Yes I've occasionally had this!

I think my mum must have had it because I distinctly remember her telling me that farts don't actually come from your bottom but your "front bottom" Confused I just accepted it as fact at the time but looking back I'm a bit WTF? about it.

I often get them-at least I know now that I'm not the only one and I've never even had kids Confused

BillBrysonsBeard · 22/05/2016 23:21

I have a big arse too... Hmm a common link...

duck No never, feel like I'm missing out SadGrin I'm stupidly tight though (not a boast at all, I have vaginismus so it's painful and annoying) so maybe that's a factor in being queefless... No space for air to get in?

Junosmum · 22/05/2016 23:22

Mumsnet has once again proved that I am with my people.

OP- I get this too. I am of larger derrier, more so post birth (also about 5months ago) and have only noticed this since birth. Definitely not a queef.

I got post bath/swimming water retention pre-birth though. I loved that thread too!

I had some birth trauma due to forceps which I've been referred to physio for so assumed it was all part of that. Perhaps not!

Either way, I find it rather unpleasant.

Stylingwax · 22/05/2016 23:23

Oh my god I get this.
I love Mumsnet with such a deep love.

fatmomma99 · 22/05/2016 23:23

Oh Queen... I thought it was just me that enjoyed that sensation. I assumed it was because I don't get enough sex, but no... it's just a pleasurable feeling (also means it's going to be silent, which is a relief when other people are around!)

I call them 'spirit levels'. Which way will the fart bubble go? I quite like them zipping along although can't remember them going back inside.

MrsMattMurdock · 22/05/2016 23:25

Do you think the Daily Mail will steal this thread?Blush

Junosmum · 22/05/2016 23:26

Queen- thanks for the link. It's brilliant.

I call these 'hitchhikers'. I've never given birth

Junosmum · 22/05/2016 23:27

Mrs- if it does i might start reading it!

Iknownuffink · 22/05/2016 23:27

It is perfectly normal.

I hoot with laughter very time/daily when I do it.

Bill - more of one of those things that if it comes all the way out and then goes back in things? It made a great first night with DP 😂 Luckily he's still here 5 years later so can't be too bad.

These are the sorts of conversations I long for. I'm odd like that.

Sometimes, with the big bum, I find a fart will almost squeeze up the crack and pop out at the top. Rather than sort of escaping as you'd "expect". Or is that normal? I love farting, me.

Did you know it burns calories?

Cutecat78 · 22/05/2016 23:29

I guess at least we know what the subject matter will be on Matthew Wright tomorrow. Grin
