Especially Fenella. She was awful! God...the TV we watched (us old people!)

AIBU to think kids tv is far less scary now?

Best programme ever!

"'Ello lickle ol' lady!"

VioletBam · 22/05/2016 12:43

But Fenella's face in that permanent snarl....awful!

I love it when her son Clifford turns up and she calls him a 'great lummox'.

He's so massive you can only see his foot Grin

TalcAndTurnips · 22/05/2016 12:56

Fenella was based on a young Bruce Forsyth of course.

That's nothing compared to Barry Lett's version of Pincocchio from the late 70's. He also produced Dr Who

Truly it is the stuff of nightmares

I was terrified when we went to see Goosebumps. Nothing is more frightening than a ventriloquists doll that has a mind of their own

VioletBam · 22/05/2016 13:05

Enthusiasm it's easy to see where The Mighty Boosh got the Crack Fox from!

Have you not seen in the night garden iggle piggle is terrifying seriously scary. Chorlton andcthe wheelies is great loved it .

JennyBunn · 22/05/2016 13:10

I was scared of Chorlton and the Wheelies. But I was absolutely bloody TERRIFIED of Animal Kwackers (and still am). I remember crying into my mum's skirt as she was washing the clothes in the twin tub because it had come on the telly and scared the bejesus out of me! I'd post a picture but I'm too afraid...

I think a lot of 70's kids telly was made by people who did to many drugs in the 60's.

MrsJayy · 22/05/2016 13:12

Mr Benn was odd kinda unnerved me

TalcAndTurnips · 22/05/2016 13:13

Kiddywinks besieged sweetie shops in droves after seeing

Or sat in the corner rocking and shaking silently. It was one or the other - can't quite recall tbh.

MrsJayy · 22/05/2016 13:23

Dd1 used to watch this freaky girl programme

Chorlton and the Wheelies...the stuff of nightmares.
ApocalypseSlough · 22/05/2016 13:32

Talc that's hilariously disturbing

lessthanBeau · 22/05/2016 19:56

mrsjay Haha Anna conda, think it's Canadian!

HungryHorace · 22/05/2016 20:04

'Come to Wheelie World. Wheeee!'

I don't recall being traumatised by it. Maybe I've blocked it out. Kids' programmes were vaguely odd back in the day. Can't beat a bit of The Flumps though. I bloody loved that programme!

phlebasconsidered · 22/05/2016 20:05

Hartley the Hare. That is all.

ThoraGruntwhistle · 22/05/2016 20:06

You great spotty oaf! I bloody love Fenella the kettle witch, the accents in that show are amazing Grin

Monroe · 22/05/2016 20:11

I loved Chorlton and the wheelies. DD'S first passport photo looks remarkably like this

MonsterINTHECupboard · 22/05/2016 20:12

Pipkins with Hartley the Hare!! Fab programme - though with hindsight, a tad weird. I was a bit too old Chorlton and the Wheelies, though don't think there was anything to worry about.
I also remember:
Kizzy
Break in the Sun
Ivor the Engine
The Barbapupas (loved all of them!)
Ludvig!!!

SoleBizzz · 22/05/2016 20:13

Loved it! Wimps! !!

Woobeedoo · 22/05/2016 20:51

My OH showed me a clip of Hartly Hare (I was too young so thankfully I never witnessed this horror). Oh my word, the hare is sinister!

SweetieDrops · 22/05/2016 20:55

I was terrified of Grotbags the witch in that Rod and Emu thing.

YolandiFuckinVisser · 22/05/2016 21:03

I loved Charlton & the wheelies!

DS used to be scared of Engie Bengie. He's 14 now and has recently chosen to divulge the fact that he once had a nightmare involving Engie Bengie's car and it's grabbing arm thing. This goes some way to explaining the hysterics outside tesco when we had to walk past the Engie Bengie ride thing when he was 3.

DD used to be scared of the toucan on Night Garden, she loved the rest of it but would start whimpering when the birds started their twittering routine, leading up to crying an wailing in terror when the toucan started his thing. Never got to the bottom of that one!

Crispbutty · 22/05/2016 21:07

Kizzy was my favourite program ever. I still have the book.

peppansalt · 22/05/2016 21:10
