To not miss my children

I have two ds 2&4. On the rare occasion they stop with grandparents i do not miss them not even a tiny bit! Is this bad?

I literally just fall back to how i was before i had them and kind of forget all about them.

They are both just so much hard work at the moment and i actually dread picking them up.

I am a terrible mother.

I miss them after about an hour. Not anxious at all, but when they are at friends' houses, or school residentials, or we are away, or I am at work, I genuinely miss them and get excited at seeing them again. And they are old, 13 and 15! I wish I could feel more like you OP, as it is definitely me that's odd not you! I don't think you are a bad mother at all. They will have a great time with their grandparents!

Is the feeling of excitment missing them though? Honest question im worried my swinging brick heart is odd

1 You're fortunate to have someone - I know you know that
2 You're sensible not to go in a flap and miss them, so you get some down time
3 your mum is being supportive by saying she can cope
4 Your mum is being sensible for letting you know what mischief they have been getting up to, rather than glossing over it, and letting them think they can get away with anything at her place.
It all seems great to me. (envy)

Don't know. I don't feel sad as such when they are away, it's more that I'm looking forward to having them back. DD2 is swimming with friends at the moment, and I am sweeping through chores etc, and hardly languishing in tears, but I am looking forward to picking her up at 4.

I don't miss mine when they'reaway either. I'm always glad when they come back though... well for the five minutes before they start arguing Grin
