AIBU to think the daily fail is wrong wrong wrong

Right, I don't often post but I'm getting increasingly pissed of that posts on here are being publish in the Daily Mail. I was under the (obviously wrong) impression that we all shared a modicum of discretion.

Tbh most of it is light hearted waffle but surely the constant "mums net" headlines have the potential to stop a mum in real need posting, in fear of seeing their post published around the country.

If you dislike the Daily Mail - as I think you'll find it's called - have you considered just not reading it? Then you won't be pissed off by anything that's in it.

And why would you think posting something on an open internet site with millions of readers would give anyone "discretion". Don't be so ridiculous.

There are many MANY people who post on here because they feel they have no where else to turn. Yes, it's a public forum but should posters really have to assume that their posts will end up on The Wright Stuff or in some rag like the Daily Mail? bet the fuckers won't print this thread

I think it's not only lazy journalism but disgusting & immoral. Just my view.

Hmmmm I'm neither pro or against the daily mail. I do, however, feel that it's scrapping the barrel when copying a chat from here.

Personally, I'm quite content, with my lot. I'm confident enough to know that I'm not crap but appreciate there is room for improvement.

My point is, that not every mum is confident. Some need a place that is safe to ask "dumb" questions

I don't really see how the DailyFail being a rubbish paper that scrapes the bottom of the barrel for its 'journalism', has anything to do with the fact that people seem to forget that they are posting on a public, albeit anonymous internet forum.

Morally, I think it's wrong to use other's work and pass it off as your own, or gain from it.

I think the daily fail is ansolutely crap, and maybe we raise the bar by writing for them?

Maybe MN love threads being lifted wholesale as it means they earn more in ad real estate or click throughs.

It so tedious when we have post penis beaker type invasions, especially by mansplaining jerks. But maybe that's what HQ are delighted with as their ad revenue goes up if there is higher traffic and click throughs.

My point is that whilst most people see through the bullshit, there will be a percentage of mums who will stop asking for help, commenting or seeking help.

These mums are the ones that need mumsnet for what it was created for. For help, advise and quite simply just "someone" to hear them.

I'm not saying the daily mail is crap (after all, I have obviously read it to know that mumsnet threads are being posted). I am saying that surely there are far more interesting, important, relevant topics for a national newspaper.

I'm saying: that mum who has finally plucked up the courage to go on line and ask for help may not ask for that help.

Yes lovely idea Apricot but not everyone who posts on here can afford to just pop out and make an appointment to see a counsellor.

MN is supposed to be anonymous and should enable people to chat freely. When asking for advice posters shouldn't have to watch what they post in case some parasitical journalist lift it and uses to fill space in their rag. MN wasn't started, well I assume it wasn't, as a source of material for lazy journalists.

Watching 'Have I got news for you' the other evening and the snippet of 'news' about the MN poster and the ungrateful bride and groom who returned her £100 cheque asking for more, popped up. Not sure what they said the source was as I was only half listening but I suspect it was the DM.

I do understand what you're saying op, but it does tend to be the more outrageous threads that make it into the daily mail. I'm pretty sure 99% of what's posted on here is of no interest to them. And there is 'off the beaten track' if you don't want your thread to appear in active conversations.
