To feel anxious about new job and leaving old one - anxiety very bad please help am I being stupid

Iv been very unhappy in my job . Iv found another and had to ring my boss to advise of this as she's not in the office for the next month . I have my contact and it clearly says I have to give a week . She is aderment it's a month or 2 weeks ( not clear which she thinks ) - Iv sent her a picture of the contact and she is saying I must have the wrong one .area manager ringing tomowow I think they are going to try to avoid paying my holiday pay - which I'm due 6 mths of as taken none this year . Really need the money but don't feel strong enough to fight . Apparently area manager has huffily said if I only want to give a week leave me to it ( feel like shouting that's my contract ) but I think they are going to penalise me

I'm so dreading dealing with them

If it's in your contract then they can't argue it. Send them a photo of where it's also signed.
If you're concerned then go to Citizens Advice and they'll help you.

Thankyou , I'm maybe being silly - it's prob my anxiety coupled with the stress of a transition to another job - did you get urs sorted ?

I don't know why but my anxiety is sky high - I just want to be away . I really wish they could just do the decent thing for once

And yes I got mine sorted, I was bullied while pregnant at work and they tried to withhold my holiday pay even though I hadn't taken any yet. By the time it has finally been sorted and they accepted that they had to give me my holiday I had enough holiday saved to leave the next day and not have to go back until after my maternity leave.
They were really really nasty to me though, having me work until I was hurt and crying, having me on the floor heavily pregnant tidying etc

I think it's ACAS they are anonymous support for employment issues

Call ACAS, they're brilliant when my husband has issues with work. They will email you any information you need and you can simply relay it to your employer and they'll have to listen.

Iv got my contract here in black and white I know that but I doubt myself . It's when Iv even sent her a pic of the contract she is saying it's wrong or changed . They just mess with my head I know This is the only one I have . I wish they would just act respectfully and let me go rather than all this hanging over me - but then that's just how they are - and Iv got to face the area manager tomowow but thanku for the details

Definitely call ACAS then and go in with your contract and a photocopy of it if you can and the information ACAS give you printed off.

If you're friends with anyone you work with you can have them with you in the meeting if you want

It's a stressful situation. I would be anxious as . However, try to remember the law is on YOUR side. Once they know you know this, they'll be scared as (same four letter word). You have the power here.

Doesn't even matter if the contract has changed, if you havent 'signed off' (be it literally or implicitly) said changes. Being weak about it (sorry to use such harsh language) wont make them treat you any better. Going in there, teeth baring, and you'll get a better result I think. You're leaving so they aint looking to compromise with you.

You are absolutely in the right. You have it in black and white. Don't doubt yourself. Think about it as simply reinforcing your correct decision to leave. And congrats on the new job!

And it sounds as if the area manager knows the score (whether huffily or not). If you're not able to contact ACAS before you speak, show her your contract and if she suggests anything remotely different say 'that's not what it says on my contract. If you are changing those terms I need to take advice before we speak any further.' If she questions that, just repeat 'as its not what it says on my contract, I will need to take advice before we speak further'.

Thanks Iv rung acas . Apparently employers can only deduct money if they go through the courts or it's illegal - so I'm guessing this is them just trying it on - will see Thankyou tho x

It doesn't matter if they think you've got the wrong contract, you're only bound by the one you've signed. They also have to give you all the pay you're due.

If anyone screams and shouts at you, I would suggest you just say "I'm sorry, I don't have to listen to shouting, please come and talk to me when you've calmed down." You really are currently in quite a strong position, because they know you don't need the job.

Make sure that if they try to scare you that you mention that you've spoken to ACAS and know your rights.
Don't argue of anything like that, simply calmly repeat what is stated on your contract. x

If you're scared then take a deep breath, prepare yourself with the facts and go in and fake being brave. You can break down when you get home, that's what I do lol

OP I would suggest that you leave the original of your contract at home and only take in a photocopy. They sound like the kind of place that would say 'Oh, do you mind giving us your contract so we can take a look at it?' and then either never giving it back to you, or giving it back to you with an altered middle page. I'm probably being paranoid but you never know!

That's why I said to take a photocopy as well so if they ask, she can simply give them the copy :)
