To ask if it's a good thing that London has a Muslim mayor

Because my London based in-laws are not happy and I've not been following the campaign as I'm not in London so don't really care. However, we're seeing PILs this weekend and it will be up for discussion.

What I hate is stupid people like you trying to crush debate and freedom of expression by cheaply using the "wats wacist" card.

'Freedom of expression'. A lovely phrase often used by Donald Trump, who says he is speaking for the masses. A man known for his accurate description of the world.

He already believes that parts of London were already no go areas for the police due to Islamic radicalism before this Mayoral election. So no doubt, he's not really that arsed about SK because, London has already fallen and ISIS are in control. SK is merely the head of ISIS London, who has been installed in a shame election.

You see I tend to find that people that start using the idea that debate is being crushed and their freedom of expression violated do so, because they either aren't very good at debate in the first place and have very little substance to their point apart from 'bad man foreign' or because they watch FoxNews and have utterly no idea about the rest of the world through utter ignorance. Its easier to shout louder than everyone else than articulate an intelligent point.

But yep, pointing out your argument is JUST SIMPLY FUCKING DUMB is using the cheap 'wats wacist' card.

GarlicShake · 09/05/2016 15:35

Here are the members of the London Assembly, who hold the Mayor to account and represent Londoners at City Hall. I'm sure you can all have a lot of whatabouty fun with them, too.

123lekl · 09/05/2016 15:35

Yes but I've experienced it and im simply pointing out its shit!!
I've having a rough day and your pedantic observations of my hasty use of vocabulary (despite me using an array of words aside from racism) has been unnecessary. But I'm pretty sure you've made yourself feel clever so good for you!

RedToothBrush · 09/05/2016 15:37

*sorry, that should be in this country.

Not true in other parts of the world.

MrSnow · 09/05/2016 15:38

What the flying fuck has Donald Trump got to do with this?

No one has "crushed" my freedom of expression because I refuse to bow down to people who think you can be silenced with "you racist"

And believe you me, you're not the authority on articulate and intelligent posts on MN, because if you are, the whole place is f**ed.

MrSnow · 09/05/2016 15:40

It was in no way personal. I'm sorry you're having a rough day. It would be cool if you thought before you pedaled the word "racist" as it's use where it's not warranted cheapens the term.

RedToothBrush · 09/05/2016 15:40

THEN TELL ME

What doom awaits London???

I'm waiting.

Just like I'm still waiting for some substance from Mr Trump.

Or is it just hot air and bigotry? Like Mr Trump.

Lweji · 09/05/2016 15:41

Are you accusing him of anti-semitism, MrSnow?

I've not seen any hints about who you think he'll put as Met chief. Or what he'll actually do.
Do you think he'll overlook any gangs who rape? Only muslims who rape?

What, specifically?

Lweji · 09/05/2016 15:41

BTW, please do use some form of quote marks. My tired brain just can't cope.

MrSnow · 09/05/2016 15:43

What doom awaits London???

Where did I say anything about "Doom" You need to calm down and stop using hyperbole.

MrSnow · 09/05/2016 15:44

Are you accusing him of anti-semitism, MrSnow?

No, if you read my post properly, I am accusing his party, Labour, of anti-semitism.

Lweji · 09/05/2016 15:47

Yes, I realised you mentioned the party. I just wondered how that related directly to Khan.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 09/05/2016 15:48

"Muslamic". >

Lweji · 09/05/2016 15:48

Also: quotes, please. :)
It's not hard: " "

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 09/05/2016 15:49

I really don't know but very interested to find out.

That's very gnomic, MrSnow. Care to elucidate just a bit?

NeverEverAnythingEver · 09/05/2016 15:50

'Xactly. Like me.

But let's let MrSnow off. MrSnow has already thrown out gems for thought. We should go and ponder our fate.

(I doubt we'll get more wisdom out of MrSnow and it's really a waste of time.)

RedToothBrush · 09/05/2016 15:51

Key policies:

  • 50 per cent of all new homes affordable using land owned by the Mayor and Transport for London to increase the supply of housing and tie house building to new transport infrastructure projects
  • freeze London transport fares for four years
  • increase the proportion of TfL’s budget spent on cycling
  • restore neighbourhood policing
  • tackle gangs and knife crime
  • unveil a new plan to tackle the spread of extremism.
  • sell Boris Johnson’s water cannon and spend the receipts on youth projects aimed at decreasing gang crime
  • pedestrianise Oxford Street
  • prioritise measures to improve London’s air quality
  • set a target of only buying clean electric or hydrogen buses from 2020 to help manufacturers invest in clean bus technology.
  • oppose the construction of a third runway at Heathrow Airport
-to embark on a major tree-planting programme across London

So yeah, I'd like to know what there you've actually got a problem with. It all sounds pretty reasonable to me. I wouldn't question it, if it was Goldsmith's manifesto, or any other individual. So I'm not quite sure why its an issue for SK.

PausingFlatly · 09/05/2016 15:51

It's lots of non-specific "intimating", Red. Without spelling anything out, to avoid actually being challenged on it.

It's what people do when they're trying to create Fear Uncertainty and Doubt.

Eg "There's a police chief selection for London coming up. And the London Mayor wants a say. Be afraaaaaid."

M'kay, tell me why, exactly?

MrSnow · 09/05/2016 15:51

"Yes, I realised you mentioned the party. I just wondered how that related directly to Khan"

Umm....because Khan's a member of the labour party?

Lweji · 09/05/2016 15:53

In the same way that he's a Muslim so he must be sexist and be a terrorist?

MrSnow · 09/05/2016 15:53

"It's what people do when they're trying to create Fear Uncertainty and Doubt"

Yes, I've been planted here by the CIA to infiltrate MN and sow the seeds of fear, uncertainly and doubt.

Get a grip.

MrSnow · 09/05/2016 15:54

In the same way that he's a Muslim so he must be sexist and be a terrorist?

What are you gibbering on about now. Go talk a walk, get some fresh air and go back to your desk. Thank me later.

PausingFlatly · 09/05/2016 15:54

My grip's fine, thanks.

I even have one to spare for you. Here --> ( )

RedToothBrush · 09/05/2016 15:54

(I doubt we'll get more wisdom out of MrSnow and it's really a waste of time.)

Already worked that out a while ago. I'm having a bit of fun now.

I can't wait for some #MrSnowFacts

Lweji · 09/05/2016 15:55

For some reason I'm getting an inkling that may explain some things from another thread Mr Snow started. Hmm
