Mother sues for £20k for being discouraged from bf while the wave machine was on

Daily Mirror link to the story here.

I'm totally for breastfeeding wherever and whenever, but I wouldn't want to eat my sandwiches in a swimming pool - they are so germy, like a human soup, so not sure a swimming pool with a wave machine on would be the best place to bf. Plus, obviously in this case there was the waves.

I realise that getting out of the water, especially if she had other kids, with a hungry baby would be a massive faff, but wouldn't the wave machine splash the baby and make it choke?

Serious question: AIBU to think this? Is bf in a swimming pool a done thing? Genuinely curious.

For some people complaining is a hobby. It's safer and cheaper than hang-gliding and requires less intellectual effort than chess.

Roussette · 03/05/2016 08:52

Her tweets and posts are a delight to read not. I feel sorry for her poor DH, I bet he just has to go along with all this nonsense. I imagine she's very ummm strident at home too.

I imagine she spends most of her life (when not bfing) going round trying to catch shops, childrens areas, cafes, small businesses out.

unimaganitive you say Most pro breastfeeding mums would just go round telling all other mums not to go there
There's no need for her to do that. The leisure centre totally support bfing and there are signs everywhere saying so and there has been for years apparently.

AssembleTheMinions · 03/05/2016 08:58

I can't work Twitter and usually don't care, however, I would give my left arm to read what sounds like a belter of an account. so a hint or better yet, a link to it would be fab

ClearEyesFullHeartsCantLose · 03/05/2016 09:10

Ditto to ^

Roussette · 03/05/2016 09:13

It is a belter assemble. Enjoy! here

NeedACleverNN · 03/05/2016 09:15

What's the betting she is reading this (either because she's a member or a friend has sent the link) and has this expression? Angry

Like "it's mumsnet ffs! If anyone should be able to see my pov it should be them!!"

AssembleTheMinions · 03/05/2016 09:21

Thanks Roussette I'm looking forward to this.

Just a quick though though, would such a passionate vegan actually go in a McDonalds? Seems a rather odd choice given how strongly she feels.

NeedACleverNN · 03/05/2016 09:25

I've done a quick google and it says that they don't have any vegan products. Their fries are not even vegan but are vegetarian

MangoMoon · 03/05/2016 09:26

Need, she'll be both Angry & also over the moon at the same time, I'll wager.

She'll be cock-a-hoop at this thread as it will give her a new perceived injustice to bore on about...
Possibly a sustained social media campaign against MN vipers.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2016 09:34

God she's a bf peer supporter, God help the poor woman, she probably thinks those who were not able to bf shod have tried harder and endured more pain. Yes I have seen a couple of lactivists on here in the past who believe that.

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2016 09:35

I have The Wright Stuff on. Surely it will get a mention.

Roussette · 03/05/2016 09:40

needaceverNN Yes and maybe she should think on. If just about the whole of MN think she's barking (given that MN are very pro bf) she probably is!

unimagmative13 · 03/05/2016 09:58

Rousette I just meant if she truly believes she was being treated unfairly.

When are people going to get we live in a country with choices. I don't know anyone who would choose to use formula because it's on sale- breast is free so that's a pointless argument.

(I'm feeling a bit sore after a friend wrote on Facebook that my content formula baby is only that way because I'm sacrificing what's best for my baby so excuse me if I seem a bit anti BF, I'm not, I'm anti twat)

Surely she was just in McDonald's so she could catch them out on their veganess.

Someone should tweet her the link to this thread.

unimagmative13 · 03/05/2016 10:02

Tweeted today

@Abbie2504 why do you have to let everyone know that you are a vegan when you complain.

Even an embarrassment to vegans

AlwaysNC · 03/05/2016 10:03

She's an idiot. She was offered a chair at the side if the pool so she could KEEP breast feeding!
Also te hospital offered her a private room, it wasn't a demand. The majority of mothers would have been pleased as punched to have been offered a private room, even if they didn't take up the offer and were happy where they were.

NeedACleverNN · 03/05/2016 10:12

How does Twitter work anyway?

I can see her replies but not what she actually replies to. If I had an account would I see that?

unimagmative13 · 03/05/2016 10:23

Just click on the reply and the thread should come up.

unimaganitve I'm with you. Smile

Yes, do hope she's reading this. She's all over the internet like a rash so can't imagine she won't be.

Or perhaps she's off to Wetherspoons carvery for lunch to create a fuss!

madmamma31 · 03/05/2016 10:42

i have breastfed all my 5 children out and about it is about been private not hauling all the boob out and causing offence keep it discreet and nobody will care a less she makes it look bad and people will be offended

4happyhours · 03/05/2016 10:44

This seems to be an instance of someone jumping on a bandwagon, hoping to get something out of someone and going out of their way to feed somewhere wacky ... I'm completely pro BF (fed mine for a year each) and completely pro choice of where to do it. However, common sense suggests that in a pool, during wave machine action, is just daft.

spabbygirl · 03/05/2016 10:44

I think she should be able to feed wherever she wants, feeding a baby in a pool is a good way to calm a fractious child to get it used to the water. It looks to me like she's on a mission to challenge silly breastfeeding ideas and good for her.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2016 10:47

sabbygirl are your her best friend by the way!

Roussette · 03/05/2016 10:47

No one is saying she shouldn't BF where she wants but whilst a wave machine is going with an 8 month old seems like she engineered that. They only put wave machines on for a very short time but she chooses then hmmm

CoolCarrie · 03/05/2016 10:47

She is clearly after the money and attention, stupid woman, feel sorry for her children, she must be a barrel of laughs!
