Mother sues for £20k for being discouraged from bf while the wave machine was on

Daily Mirror link to the story here.

I'm totally for breastfeeding wherever and whenever, but I wouldn't want to eat my sandwiches in a swimming pool - they are so germy, like a human soup, so not sure a swimming pool with a wave machine on would be the best place to bf. Plus, obviously in this case there was the waves.

I realise that getting out of the water, especially if she had other kids, with a hungry baby would be a massive faff, but wouldn't the wave machine splash the baby and make it choke?

Serious question: AIBU to think this? Is bf in a swimming pool a done thing? Genuinely curious.

Full time breastfeeding activist= unemployed

bloodyteenagers · 02/05/2016 20:54

So enlighten us.
What are her demands?
What charity will be getting the money that she doesn't want?

LogicalThinking · 02/05/2016 20:56

she is kind and not stupid and would not do this for money.
There is nothing kind in what she is doing. Petulant behaviour like this makes it harder for other breastfeeding mums. She behaved like a twat, deliberately creating conflict where there was none. The venue welcomes breastfeeding and she has implied that they don't.
She is stupid if she thinks she has a case. She was not discriminated against. She wasn't prevented from breastfeeding or asked to leave or asked to stop. Sitting in the waves was not suitable for a baby.
And of course she is doing this for the money! £20k - what fucking planet is she on?
Selfish, stupid and greedy.

I breastfed my 2 babies all over the place and never once had anything but support. I never hid anywhere and never had a single negative comment. Funny how some people seem to find conflict so often.

Buckinbronco · 02/05/2016 20:57

It's not that she's not allowed to speak out, just that it's not sensible whilst she is Pursuing a legal case (I doubt it's got anywhere so far, or will get anywhere- she speaks with the naivety of someone who has no idea how much money gets you in the legal system and how little you'll get without it)

It doesn't matter whether she's giving it to charity or not. If she's awarded it then we can assume she is entitled to it, and in that case why should she give it away? I bet she won't be awarded anything though. She won't even get it heard I reckon.

unimagmative13 · 02/05/2016 21:52

Most pro breastfeeding mums would just go round telling all other mums not to go there.

unimagmative13 · 02/05/2016 21:55

She's emotional scared can never BF again and needs £20k for formula and cows milk.

Pepperpot99 · 02/05/2016 21:59

She's obviously one of those loony lacto- militants who hates anyone who doesn't have tits and who doesn't shove them in their dc's mouths until the age of 5.

unimagmative13 · 02/05/2016 22:02

Her Twitter is making very interesting bedtime reading- basically tweeting supermarkets about infant feeding regulations.

Aldi advertised a bath, bottle, bed routine aimed at 6months under

This also happened

@AldiUK really not happy. Just had a cheese chip in my "sea salt and lime" tortilla chip bag. Not ok especially as I'm #vegan

PinkyOfPie · 02/05/2016 22:08

She also tweets about how BF should "never hurt". If I'd listened to that crap in the first few weeks id have failed. I don't know a single person who BF successfully who said it didn't hurt. Of course it hurts!!!

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2016 22:11

Oh dear. how did a cheese chip get in there? Shock There's 30K right there for trauma.

If i could have had gas and air for breastfeeding I might have done it longer.

Janeymoo50 · 02/05/2016 22:15

Why oh why, just use some common sense, feed where you can, comfortably for you and little one. The middle of a swimming pool during the wave machine.............please no. It's a step too far.

JuxtapositionRecords · 02/05/2016 22:16

Just looked at her Twitter. I think she should add #professionalcomplainer to her credentials. This woman has serious time on her hands.

unimagmative13 · 02/05/2016 22:16

This is a gem

@MrsPageSings @issyjohnson1 it's ok for you to drink the milk of a rape victim, who's had her baby snatched and killed though, right?!

About a cow

Also interesting question - how do vegans Breasfeed? I notice she's been asked a few times.

Saying that bf should never hurt is outdated advice so ive been told by a lactation consultant. I believe current thinking is to tell women that it may hurt initially, so the first minute of a feed for the first few days may be painful. Nipples need to toughen up a bit, etc and then usual advice of if pain carries on then get attachment checked.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 02/05/2016 22:21

Well I guess her baby isn't vegan.

Or maybe it's ok because she's not a voiceless rape victim (aka cow).

unimagmative13 · 02/05/2016 22:22

If women like her encouraged women struggling (like me) the world would be a better place.

Cartons of cheap reduced SMA and an Aldi advert are not the reasons I changed to formula.

Life isn't all look at me breastfeeding.

NeedACleverNN · 02/05/2016 22:22

Holy shit....she's nuts!!!

unimagmative13 · 02/05/2016 22:23

Her children are vegans FYI

She takes them to McDonald's then probably tweets McDonald's abuse

MaudGonneMad · 02/05/2016 22:30

That tweet Confused

MistressMerryWeather · 02/05/2016 22:38

Even cows be like 'Moo, wtf?' Confused at that tweet.

PinkyOfPie · 02/05/2016 22:43

I have abandoned my latest Marion Keyes read in favour of reading this lady's Twitter account tonight.

Seems earlier this year some poor lad from Asda got an earful because a carton of formula was red stickers. Now I appreciate why infant formula advertising guidelines are important and should be adhered to, but FFS don't be a twat to a sales assistant in your plight to rid the world of SMA. Just email the store.

She also think Aldi should have a paid GP or attachment parent (?!) on their 'panel' (eh?).

PinkyOfPie · 02/05/2016 22:46

Another gem of a tweet

@McDonalds excellent service at sandbach m6 ss. They gave my daughter a vegan burger in her happy meal even though it's not on the menu.

Calm down love, they took the meat out a burger. You could have done that. WTF is happy about bread and lettuce Sad

MistressMerryWeather · 02/05/2016 22:50

I hope poor old Aldi have blocked her.
