Mother sues for £20k for being discouraged from bf while the wave machine was on

I'm totally for breastfeeding wherever and whenever, but I wouldn't want to eat my sandwiches in a swimming pool - they are so germy, like a human soup, so not sure a swimming pool with a wave machine on would be the best place to bf. Plus, obviously in this case there was the waves.

I realise that getting out of the water, especially if she had other kids, with a hungry baby would be a massive faff, but wouldn't the wave machine splash the baby and make it choke?

Serious question: AIBU to think this? Is bf in a swimming pool a done thing? Genuinely curious.

It does seem an odd places to choose. Maybe at the very shallow bit but even then I struggle to sit still without being bashed around by the waves.

Our local pool has benches around the side so I would just get out and sit there.

I think feeding I a swimming pool is fine. I think feeding in a swimming pool with waves is downright fucking dangerous and is a H&S issue rather than a comfort or privacy issue.

What a nut case. she wasn't stopped she was asked to stop doing something in a position that was dangerous.

She apparently sued a hospital for suggesting she could feed in a private room. I find it odd that one woman can be confronted twice with the same dc in different venues yet I've bf 3dc (2 at the same time) and only ever got positive comments. Call me cynical but I get the feeling she's looking for a suing opportunity.

Feeding in a swimming pool is not on IMO. She is being very vocal about her rights (suing FFS) and is doing a massive disservice to BF mums. She was asked to leave as the wave machine may well have led to a significant H&S issue but she turned it into a fucking row about her right to BF.

Ye gods! Another unreasonable woman damaging the wider support for bf. It's hard enough to educate some people without throwing such stupidity into the mix:

a) a swimming pool really isn't a sensible place to bf, for all sorts for reasons
b) she wasn't asked to stop or leave, she was offered a chair!
c) she seems to be a serial suer.

I am pro BF in public but on this one I think she is being ridiculous. Even if the machine wasn't on I would have wanted to be away from the water so that we both could get comfortable and be prepared if baby was a sick.

This woman is clearly an idiot. Of course it's dangerous to breast feed in a wave pool, she clearly lacks common sense. If she was bottle feeding in the wave pool they'd have also questioned her.

She's clearly one of those women who thinks it's always about her breast feeding. Yawn get over it.

I wouldn't even take an 8 month old anywhere near the waves when the wave machine is on, let alone try and breast feed. You can get knocked backwards even sitting in the shallows and end up with a massively grazed bum.

She is not doing herself or fellow breastfeeding mums any favours and is making herself look entirely stupid.

of course she should be allowed to feed her baby in a swimming pool - provided that, if the baby is sick in the water, she is prepared to pay the full costs of the:

pool being drained
fully cleaned
refilled and chlorinated,
and make good the financial loss through the pool being closed for several days.

What amazes me in these cases is that a Solicitor gives them the time of day.

I am not very knowledgeable on the law but seriously what law was broken? There couldn't possibly be any precedent. It's a case of please give us money out of court to shut us up or we will continue with the bad publicity. What is the difference between that and blackmail?

I hope they make her pay the full costs; might deter her from trying it again.
