To think the 28 days 28 weeks later films are the best zombie films?

Home alone with grumpy teething baby, luckily he's slept lots and while I could be using his sleeping time to clean, I used it to watch 28 days later and 28 weeks later. They were made 2002 and 2007 and are by far my favourite zombie films. Avid walking dead fan as well.
Maybe it's because I was a fresh faced 18 year old when it first came out and I associate it with being able to go to the cinema whenever I wanted?!

I watched Maggie brilliant take of the transition to zombie and coping with the effects of transforming on the family and the person. I would recommend Abigail Bissen Stars alongside Arnold schewigger

I didn't know there was a 4th REC film,but then I've still not seen the 3rd.

WeAreEternal · 04/05/2016 12:40

icebear you won't be missing much if you skip the third film but if you enjoyed the first two you should definitely watch the fourth.

SalemSaberhagen · 04/05/2016 13:01

I loved 28 days later!

The young girl was a terrible actor though.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 04/05/2016 13:04

I hated I Am Legend. It was just shit. I liked the book though.

Verticalvenetianblinds · 04/05/2016 13:16

Watched Maggie last night, snoring dh and grumpy baby woke me up and old insomnia is back.
I really liked it! Thought it was quite beautiful/artistic and not just making them scary flesh eaters appealed to me.
Googling fear the walking dead, can't believe it's not on sky! :(

YABVVVVU. Running zombies are just wrong.

If it doesn't have a Marxist-inflected satire on mindless consumerism, complete with an appropriate degree of lumbering, it's not a proper zombie film.

Neither did I, but if you have Amazon Prime it's fee on that. Now added to my watchlist.

BBC3 had a great zombie series 'In the Flesh' set in Yorkshire, which ran for a couple of series. Not sure if it's still available, but if so worth checking out. Basically everyone who died in 2009 is reanimated - there are two main characters, one who originally committed suicide, and the other who died of teenage leukemia. It's about how the 'partially deceased' are reintegrated back into the community.

Love a good zombie film. Wyrmwood is on Netflix, quite enjoyable. Also there's one set in Burkino Faso, called The Dead which we loved. Very suffocating and atmospheric.

I was so disappointed with WWZ because I loved the book, I hope they redeem themselves with the sequel.

Lucylongcat · 04/05/2016 17:50

I have to lower the tone and mention Planet Terror (what's not to love about a hot babe with a machine gun for a leg?) and Me and My Mates vs the Zombie Apocalypse.

JAPABimtheonewhoknocks · 04/05/2016 17:51

"called The Dead"

They're running out of titles I see. In the future they will just start naming them Zombie Movie #17 and so on.

Lucylongcat · 04/05/2016 17:55

I enjoyed Pontypool too. I wasnt actually a huge fan of 28 days later. To many plot holes and bad decisions. It annoyed me that the infected didn't attack each other. Why wouldn't they? The only reason i could think of was because they're bloody zombies! Why bother trying to make them realistic? And why would anyone, ever ever ever go through a pitch black tunnel full of zombies. Just no. Go the long way round.

JAPABimtheonewhoknocks · 04/05/2016 19:01

It annoyed me that the infected didn't attack each other

The virus was called Rage but they were never permanently angry, attacking lampposts and anything and everything. It always was selective triggers that set them off.

Another thing I have learned about zombies is that once you die you become able to discern not just a noise, but the cause. So if you are milling about a room and a fellow zombie smashes a glass around the corner, you won't bat an eyelid. But if it was a human you will know this and start lumbering towards the sound.

Plus your jaws become stronger. You can, in a second, bite through several layers of clothes and break skin with your teeth.

Bless my dh - I was telling him how much I loved this thread the other day and last night he came home with a copy of .rec!
I've had a crappy week so it was most welcome Smile

Verticalvenetianblinds · 05/05/2016 19:00

How much 'research' time and money did they waste on this?

Just goes to show that some highly educated people have no common sense! Nothing there that we didnt know from watching TWD (bet thats what they did Wink )
