To think the 28 days 28 weeks later films are the best zombie films?

Home alone with grumpy teething baby, luckily he's slept lots and while I could be using his sleeping time to clean, I used it to watch 28 days later and 28 weeks later. They were made 2002 and 2007 and are by far my favourite zombie films. Avid walking dead fan as well.
Maybe it's because I was a fresh faced 18 year old when it first came out and I associate it with being able to go to the cinema whenever I wanted?!

Uterus that's the one!!!

'Ya mothers dead Lionel!'

Can't stand fast zombies. It's wrong! Zombies shouldn't run. I can't run. It's very worrying.

"Your mother ate my dog!"
"...Not all of it"

From what I remember it was not just gory but it had some really inventive gore setpieces.

DD1 is doing film studies at university and is watching 28 days later this week as part of a zombie genre unit.

It's such a great film - so well made on such a small budget. She really loves the film so she's hoping for good marks.

I was a fan of the Resident Evil films but they went a bit bonkers after number 3. The first one is clearly the best though as it has beautiful James Purefoy in it.

I saw 28 days later in the cinema. The car alarm scared the crap out of us ALL. Literally the whole cinema jumped at once. Awesome. Everyone was silent watching then we were all like gaaaah. You could see everyone in front of you go as you did, never seen anything like it before or since.

Gamerchick - I agree - I thought the alternative ending of I Am Legend was much more powerful.

Try the original 'Rec' - Spanish zombie film. Of the 'found footage' genre, but surprisingly effective!

Ooh love a zombie thread!
Love 28 days later, also the 28 weeks later.

Faves are though:
Zombieland

Huge TWD & FTWD fan, also enjoyed dead set & Z nation.

Does The Stand have zombies in it?! Well I never. The book doesn't.

I like 28 days later, LOVE WWZ (totally different from the book - I think both are great) and the movie set in the mall. The original, night of the living dead maybe? Not sure. I'm not a huge fan of the really gory ones if I'm honest.

Gutted that fear the walking dead is only on bt - loved the first series and was hoping to get my zombie fix after twd ended.

Rec is awesome. Terrifyingly so!

Oooh I saw them filming the empty streets scenes for 28 Days - on Southwark Street early on a Sunday morning (I was there for work not pleasure so sober).
They're not allowed to actually stop people walking across shot so they had people stationed on all side roads being incredibly polite and asking anyone wanting to cross to wait a minute.

All the REC films are great - there are 4 of them in all.

I love anything zombie, am a massive TWD fan and have seen all of FTWD and Z Nation up to date as well.

I love 28DL but not so keen on 28WL. My faves are WWZ, Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead but also love Dawn of the Dead, I Am Legend and Cockneys Vs Zombies. Haven't seen Dead Snow so will have to look it up. I have however seen the masterpiece that is Zombeavers and it's an experience I won't forget in a hurry Grin

Ok going to be a total nerd here, I am legend is the seminal post apocalyptic story that spawned Night of the living dead and pretty much every zombie film since (google what george romero and Stephen king say about it ie it totally influenced their entire creative career)and was written in 1954. Now heres the crunch, the creatures in the book by Richard Matheson are Vampire like(pale, burn up in sunlight, drink blood, can speak/walk )NOT zombies. I personally loved 28 days later, the idea, the bloody scary cheetah fast bad guys, and just the whole premise made it utterly real and therefore real. The scene where they walk through a totally deserted London with someone very quietly singing "Abide with me" utterly terrifies me

Red I thought they were vampires too Hmm

Now here's a question, has anybody seen 'die you zombie bastards'? Grin

Dead Snow and Zombieland all the way for me!

I love 28 days late, 28 weeks later not so much.
However, they are not zombie films, they are infected/epademic movies.

I am legend is also a fantastic film but again it isn't a zombie movie, I agree with PPs that they are a type of vampire like creature.

The [Rec] films a some of my favourite, one and two and brilliant, three is less so, it's not really related to the other films (completely separate cast and story).
The fourth film goes back to the original story so is better but not as good as 1 & 2.

Z nation season one was very good, season 2 was verging on stupid, although it's more what I expected from the makers of sharknado.

Resident evil is one of my favourite films, 2 isjust as good IMO, three is nearly as good (although I am still unhappy with what they did to Carlos!) four was generally a good film, but not quite up to the level of the franchise, I was less impressed with 5.
I greatly dislike their inability to explain what has happened to previous characters.
I am still looking forward to The final chapter though.

IMO Romero's 'Dead films are classics.

I am a huge zombie movie buff. Grin

Try and get a hold of it man, I watched the latest 2 episodes last night and it's really heating up. I actually felt a bit of anxiety Grin
