Home alone with grumpy teething baby, luckily he's slept lots and while I could be using his sleeping time to clean, I used it to watch 28 days later and 28 weeks later. They were made 2002 and 2007 and are by far my favourite zombie films. Avid walking dead fan as well.
Maybe it's because I was a fresh faced 18 year old when it first came out and I associate it with being able to go to the cinema whenever I wanted?!

Uterus that's the one!!!

'Ya mothers dead Lionel!'

Can't stand fast zombies. It's wrong! Zombies shouldn't run. I can't run. It's very worrying.

JAPABimtheonewhoknocks · 03/05/2016 10:24

"Your mother ate my dog!"
"...Not all of it"

From what I remember it was not just gory but it had some really inventive gore setpieces.

MaitlandGirl · 03/05/2016 10:33

DD1 is doing film studies at university and is watching 28 days later this week as part of a zombie genre unit.

It's such a great film - so well made on such a small budget. She really loves the film so she's hoping for good marks.

LBOCS2 · 03/05/2016 11:10

I was a fan of the Resident Evil films but they went a bit bonkers after number 3. The first one is clearly the best though as it has beautiful James Purefoy in it.

Unicow · 03/05/2016 11:13

I saw 28 days later in the cinema. The car alarm scared the crap out of us ALL. Literally the whole cinema jumped at once. Awesome. Everyone was silent watching then we were all like gaaaah. You could see everyone in front of you go as you did, never seen anything like it before or since.

ImogenTubbs · 03/05/2016 13:23

Gamerchick - I agree - I thought the alternative ending of I Am Legend was much more powerful.

Try the original 'Rec' - Spanish zombie film. Of the 'found footage' genre, but surprisingly effective!

inserthere · 03/05/2016 14:08

Ooh love a zombie thread!
Love 28 days later, also the 28 weeks later.

Faves are though:
Zombieland
WWZ
shaun of the dead
dawn of the dead (remake)
Warm bodies
I am legend
resident evil

Huge TWD & FTWD fan, also enjoyed dead set & Z nation.

Anyone been on a zombie survival experience?
OH & I are off to the ZED events "The Mall" later this month for his 30th, can't wait!

icebearforpresident · 03/05/2016 14:30

Rec and rec 2 are brilliant!! The American remake, quarantine,is shit though.

insert never went but I wanted to do a zombie survival experience for my hen weekend. No one else was up for it though Angry

Verticalvenetianblinds · 03/05/2016 14:37

Got containment on record tonight, horror channel, despite it being quite new and only on sky store?

Will have to check out REC, haven't seen that yet.
ice that's a shame, I would have totally gone with you!
I'm extremely excited whilst slightly terrified at the same time. I even close my eyes on ghost trains! Grin

duckyisback · 03/05/2016 15:11

Insert I have always wanted to do one!

Icebear I was going to one for my hen do too but no one else was up for it. Party poopers.

Haven't seen REC cus I'm crap with subtitled films.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 03/05/2016 21:31

Id like to do a zombie survival thing. MN meet up?

BlahBlahBlahWhatever · 03/05/2016 21:33

I'm no good with scary, greusome films but zombieland is my current favourite film!

duckyisback · 03/05/2016 21:44

Dr that would be amazing!!! But I'm pregnant Sad maybe I can still do it Grin

Toffeecrispy · 03/05/2016 22:16

Yes defo are, i am a big zombie movie fan but most zombie movies are so stupid.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 03/05/2016 23:04

Does The Stand have zombies in it?! Well I never. The book doesn't.

I like 28 days later, LOVE WWZ (totally different from the book - I think both are great) and the movie set in the mall. The original, night of the living dead maybe? Not sure. I'm not a huge fan of the really gory ones if I'm honest.

Gutted that fear the walking dead is only on bt - loved the first series and was hoping to get my zombie fix after twd ended.

Rec is awesome. Terrifyingly so!

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 03/05/2016 23:05

Did start watching z nation the other day - hammy as anything but not terrible!

Willow2016 · 03/05/2016 23:23

"Does The Stand have zombies in it?! Well I never. The book doesn't. "

Nope it doesnt Smile

it is apocalyptic/post apocalyptic though.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 03/05/2016 23:28

Oooh I saw them filming the empty streets scenes for 28 Days - on Southwark Street early on a Sunday morning (I was there for work not pleasure so sober).
They're not allowed to actually stop people walking across shot so they had people stationed on all side roads being incredibly polite and asking anyone wanting to cross to wait a minute.

BeastofCraggyIsland · 03/05/2016 23:47

All the REC films are great - there are 4 of them in all.

I love anything zombie, am a massive TWD fan and have seen all of FTWD and Z Nation up to date as well.

I love 28DL but not so keen on 28WL. My faves are WWZ, Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead but also love Dawn of the Dead, I Am Legend and Cockneys Vs Zombies. Haven't seen Dead Snow so will have to look it up. I have however seen the masterpiece that is Zombeavers and it's an experience I won't forget in a hurry Grin

Red I thought they were vampires too Hmm

Now here's a question, has anybody seen 'die you zombie bastards'? Grin

Binkybix · 04/05/2016 06:45

Dead Snow and Zombieland all the way for me!

WeAreEternal · 04/05/2016 06:46

I love 28 days late, 28 weeks later not so much.
However, they are not zombie films, they are infected/epademic movies.

I am legend is also a fantastic film but again it isn't a zombie movie, I agree with PPs that they are a type of vampire like creature.

The [Rec] films a some of my favourite, one and two and brilliant, three is less so, it's not really related to the other films (completely separate cast and story).
The fourth film goes back to the original story so is better but not as good as 1 & 2.

Z nation season one was very good, season 2 was verging on stupid, although it's more what I expected from the makers of sharknado.

Resident evil is one of my favourite films, 2 isjust as good IMO, three is nearly as good (although I am still unhappy with what they did to Carlos!) four was generally a good film, but not quite up to the level of the franchise, I was less impressed with 5.
I greatly dislike their inability to explain what has happened to previous characters.
I am still looking forward to The final chapter though.

IMO Romero's 'Dead films are classics.

I am a huge zombie movie buff. Grin

Try and get a hold of it man, I watched the latest 2 episodes last night and it's really heating up. I actually felt a bit of anxiety Grin
