Everyone must have their childhood favourite that they'd love to read to their children?

I absolutely LOVED 'What a Mess'. We had a similar dog who would always escape and steal from bins. I really liked all the little details in the illustrations. Deffo worth the £30 Grin

I think we have that book! Definitely would be selling it if I thought someone would pay £30 for it! Or even a tenner tbh!

I looked to get Phoebe and the hot water bottles. You don't want to know what it was going for.

However I have paid up to £50 for some collectable children's books just don't tell dh

I didn't really like What a Mess because I felt sorry for him, but rather oddly I have a couple. Maybe I should,sell them so I can buy others

Ant and Bee for me, and the books about Little Black Sambo. I believe they were the same author actually. The ant and bee ones go for massive money on ebay, wish I'd kept mine!!

I'd like a copy of Mr Blossom's Shop- although not enough to pay the forty quid (or whatever it was) last time I found it on Amazon.

I've had a yearning to re-read a novel I read when I was 12 "A Candle in Her Room". I live in the States now and the cheapest I have found is $70 on Amazon! I loved that book but I can't bring myself to pay this much!

I bought a childhood book for the extortionate price of £70 - I won't say which as it's unusual and I moaned about it a lot at the time so it's IDing it's out of print though

NB : It's tough to buy Used/Third Party Amazon books off the US site because many won't ship to UK

You Star OP. I have been remembering a book called the Worm Book that I loved for years and could never find it. I looked for images just in case and it turns out it was The Little Worm Book and I can buy it.

I loved the Lone Pine series of books by Malcolm Savile when I was a child. I think there were 20 in all. My mum had a few from when she was young and I gathered the rest from jumble sales / charity shops in the 90s. However, there was one I was missing and when I saw it on eBay a few years ago I paid nearly £20 for it. It was out of print at the time.

It would cost nearly £100 to replace my childhood copy of Five Dolls In A House by Helen Clare in the same edition, or £10 if I am am happy with another edition.

I've spent a small fortune on the Dorrie the Witch books over the years. Can't afford to do these things these days but would love to complete the set

People register books online then leave them to be found somewhere. Many members also like to pass on books they have finished with to fellow members or to trade them. This is free and there is a chance someone may have available exactly the childhood memory book you are looking forward.
Another source of books is Bookmooch, you build up credits by making books available and use them to get books from other members.

It was my DDs favourite book and I found a copy in Canada ! The price on the library card envelope says $30 and I bought it at least 15 years ago. Did now married with 2 DC of her own and another on the way.
Thought you might like to see it.

Just looked my fav childhood book up on Amazon and used copies go from 30 quid to 150 Shock but if I didn't still have a copy I would definitely buy another one for thirty quid! (Grimble if you're wondering, seriously the finest bit of children's literature ever created)
