Or not?

And what are your reasons? :)

Bagatelle1 · 21/04/2016 19:02

Yes. I think it helps to bind the UK together. It also generates a huge amount of revenue.

I also love the history and tradition behind it.

ivykaty44 · 21/04/2016 19:03

I wouldn't vote ......if we didn't have a head of state by monachy we would have one of those presidents and I'm not keen on either idea tbh

BieneBiene · 21/04/2016 19:04

I would keep them. I don't follow or like them but I agree with Bagatelle's reasons.

Littleallovertheshop · 21/04/2016 19:04

Yes, id keep them. However, as soon as Charles is on the throne I won't be so sure.

Lemonsole · 21/04/2016 19:05

I'd vote to get rid. ASAP.

Blink1982 · 21/04/2016 19:05

I'd keep them.

Seeyounearertime · 21/04/2016 19:05

Yes.

I sometimes think we'd be better off if they had the power instead of the tossers we have now. Grin

MuddlingMackem · 21/04/2016 19:06

I would keep them. I know that some of them seem a total waste of space, but it's like the House of Lords with hereditary peers, it's the sense of continuity. Plus it dilutes the effect of the prime minister, and with some of them that's a really good thing. Grin

Blerg · 21/04/2016 19:06

No.

LineyReborn · 21/04/2016 19:07

No, but I wouldn't want them beheaded either.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 21/04/2016 19:07

I'd keep them. Everywhere has some kind of figurehead so getting rid of the monarchy would just open a vacancy for A N Other.

Yes and they add to the gaiety of the nation.

Fourormore · 21/04/2016 19:09

I'd keep them.

RainbowPickle · 21/04/2016 19:10

I'd keep them - I think we get more from tourism (the novelty of being associated with royalty, tradition and ceremony ) than we pay out

expatinscotland · 21/04/2016 19:10

Get rid. Gaiety? William is about as gay/cheerful as a box of rocks.

jay55 · 21/04/2016 19:10

Depends on the alternative.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/04/2016 19:11

Define "keep"?

I don't think we should grind them up for pet food if that's what you mean?

I also don't think they should be head of church or head of parliament IYSWIM. The NT or someone could takeover all of their Estates, allowing them a small suite of rooms?

Keep.

katemiddletonsnudeheels · 21/04/2016 19:14

'Keep the monarchy' as in, continue to have a King and Queen.

Had I meant 'grind them up for pet food' that would be 'kill the monarchy', wouldn't it?

MidnightAura · 21/04/2016 19:15

I would vote to get rid.

absolutelynotfabulous · 21/04/2016 19:17

Get rid once the Queen has gone. Prince Charles is a joke, and Wills wouldn't be able to "bear the responsibility of duty"Hmm.

YourLeftElbow · 21/04/2016 19:18

Get rid. I don't think they help bind us together at all.

AvaLeStrange · 21/04/2016 19:19

In theory no.

In practice if it meant the monarch being replaced by anything like any of the assorted cockwombles that would probably be in the running at the moment, I'd have to abstain.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/04/2016 19:20

'Keep the monarchy' as in, continue to have a King and Queen.

Continue as we currently do, or keep the titles but let them live in a council house in Manchester?
