OP - I agree though. It seems to be at least one celebrity a week who is passing... Maybe we're getting to that age-group now where a lot of our icons pass.

very shocking, 2016 can just do one. I've lost a close friend and feel a bit battered by all the death everywhere.

I think what has been unusual for me is that so far this year 4 people have died whose work really did mean something to me (David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince and Victoria Wood) so they really do stand out to me. Add in some characters who were a massive part of entertainment and household names in my childhood (I'm late 40s so Ronnie Corbett, Terry Wogan and Paul Daniels) and it really does seem to be a bad year for it.

Tendon the OP has explained that people close to her in her own world have died and been bereaved recently. For goodness sake please stop being so hateful and spitting venom when it's not appropriate. She is not competitively grieving for Prince!

The op has had some personal bereavements, meaning that those in the public eye are hitting her harder than they would usually. She's also shocked at the volume of deaths.

Wow, Organon8 are you making a special effort to be this unpleasant, or does it come naturally? FWIW I didn't know Prince at all (no, really, I didn't). However, my dad died a few weeks ago, so, naturally another person dying makes me think about that and that makes me sad. It's not that hard to make the link, is it??

I think tomorrow would be a great day to 'bury' the superinjunction news. I think people won't care who it was, so long as he [ahem]/they are still alive and playing.
