I have just been reminded of how much 'me' some of that dark 80s Goth stuff is, and my friends are being boring. AIBU to get wine (not blue nun or Liebfraumilch sadly) and listen to only Cure, Mission, Nephilim, and Mary Chain all night???

Cockacid we could have a bus shelter icon to hang about in

shins · 15/04/2016 23:30

I caught Andrew Eldritch's cigarette that he tossed into the crowd in a secret warmup for the tour gig the Sisters did in my (one horse) hometown in 1990. I kept it for years. sways moodily around living room to the German bits of "Marian", wearing so much eyeliner I'm partially blind

Being in Brum, there was generally a bit of Grebo involved too. It was the Stourbridge influence.

Lanark2 · 15/04/2016 23:31

No mission yet.. Wasteland or severina??

CockacidalManiac · 15/04/2016 23:32

There was a lot of crossover with DM fans at the time of Violator

darksideofthemooncup · 15/04/2016 23:32

I went to see Depeche Mode in Brighton Circa 1987, they were AMAZING

Onykahonie · 15/04/2016 23:32

Starting off at the Barrel Organ, obviously yep
Also JBs if we could get there!

Lanark2 · 15/04/2016 23:33

Grebo is dangerous..its like carefully handling mercury.. Nearly OK..but don't swallow...and don't talk too loud...

The moshing was mental Lanark. I had to fiight my way out to get some air. Lost my purse. It was crazy!

CockacidalManiac · 15/04/2016 23:34

Beaver Patrol by PWEI was good to dance to, though.

CockacidalManiac · 15/04/2016 23:37

Albeit Grebo.

Lanark2 · 15/04/2016 23:37

Omg I remember going to other towns and getting a shudder of delight when I found out which bus shelter the local goths hung out in. My fave was old Colwyn in Wales. Goth hang out at the top of the street where my aunt had a cottage, and another goth hangout in a breakwater made of stones on Colwyn bay..an underground cave and Goth music I sat near because I was only 13..:)

I am there! Die hard goth here. Omg, Darkside, you look amazing. I looked like that in my -head. I met Wayne in 1993 backstage and was a backseat passenger in Andrew Eldritch's white Mercedes once (because my friend was looking after it when he was Berlin).

Lanark2 · 15/04/2016 23:40

janejeffer coooool a pal of mine was at the Liverpool one, and people coming out of a mosh pit surrounded by security guards holding hands had bloody faces and were muttering 'brilliant' etc!!

Lanark2 · 15/04/2016 23:41

EveryoneElsie it was once upon a time, you would never know it now. Feenie I was a MASS of insecurities and never felt remotely cool enough, the make-up and hair was a very carefully constructed mask

It's one of the tragedies of youth that you never realise how beautiful you are. You can only see it in retrospect.
Bauhaus now.
