I have just been reminded of how much 'me' some of that dark 80s Goth stuff is, and my friends are being boring. AIBU to get wine (not blue nun or Liebfraumilch sadly) and listen to only Cure, Mission, Nephilim, and Mary Chain all night???

Great thread - has brought back a few very happy memories. My oldest is a huge NIN fan. Have been wondering when to introduce my 15 year old to The Crow...

I miss our slimelight all nighters BC (before children) Only time we go gothing is InFest (but we're going to a wedding this year instead).

Anyone remember Snakebite and Black in Newcastle? Wasn't a proper night out without a manic mosh to Ultraviolence!

My darling jeffrey lee pierce and Nick cave?

I went to the slimelight once or twice back in the early 90s...but the British scene was not really me.

I'm listening to 6 strings that drew blood, a rowland Howard compilation. I love the birthday party.

Vox humana! Yes, the more botched and real it is the bigger the shivers-

nuclear our dance variation was more 2 steps forward 2 steps back because the best nightclub in Leeds had the world's smallest dance floor with a great big pillar in the middle of it.

Lmao, love them all but especially look out for the bee.

If we're doing NMA can I request Get Me Out? I spent much of my youth thinking this when I had to attend anything 'non-goth'.

All About Eve were big in the goth scene (where I was anyway), Rosetta Stone and Christian Death were also popular. I love Julianne Regan's beautiful, haunting, melodic voice.

I remember being so moodily pissed off when I was 15 and my parents wouldn't let me go and watch FOTN live as it was a school night. Carl McCoy's deep brooding vocals and exquisite gorgeousness almost overwhelmed my teenage self. I never quite forgave my parents.

Not goth, but a band favoured by many of us in the goth scene were New Model Army.

Goth will always be at the true heart of me. I remember the days of being on the dance floor and flinging my arms in to the air, and spreading my fingers out and pulling my arm back in as if pulling an invisible cord towards me. Oh happy days!
