I'm 52 and have fine, thin, straight hair that's about brastrap length at the back.

I often wear my hair in 2 plaits, especially if I am going somewhere on my bike cos it fits nicely under my helmet and stops it getting hopelessly tangled in the wind.

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 14/04/2016 22:38

My hair's too short to do it at the mo, but I used to put my hair in 2 plaits all the time for work and I'm semi professional.

And I wear docs to work too.

Oh and I'm late 30s.

Balls to everyone else, it's YOUR hair and if folk comment on it, good for them.

UnderCrackers5 · 14/04/2016 22:43

What has age got to do with it ??
I fish n chips on a tiny plate, so I loaded up a second plate with chips

and im dead old me

StarkyTheDirewolf · 14/04/2016 23:03

Both me and dsis have long, thick waist length hair that we wear in two plaits. Comfy and not stressful. I'm 29, she's 24. If we want a sassier plait, we do each others hair. Sibling bonding!

MammaTJ · 14/04/2016 23:08

25 is only too old for nappies and sucking a dummy! That is it!

oldjacksscrote · 14/04/2016 23:16

I still occasionally wear them, I'm 27 but it does make me look very young so dp, who is a fair bit older than me, doesn't like it, I think we got some odd looks once.

I say go for it!

YoJesse · 14/04/2016 23:22

I do sometimes and got asked if I was ds' sister? Grin. Will be wearing plaits more often now! No age limit on it IMO.

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 14/04/2016 23:28

Plaits it is tomorrow then. Anything so I look a bit younger 😁

25 is no age. Enjoying wearing, styling, doing whatever the fuck you like! It only gets harder the older you get, to do/wear/style the things you like without looking tragic. Sadly 🙁

SistersOfPercy · 14/04/2016 23:30

42 and yep.
Believe me if you see me in real life the way my hair is styled would probably be low down on things to judge me on way behind piercings, tattoos and metallica shirt.
Many fucks are not given and probably never will be Grin

Never got this 'too old' shit. So once I hit 40 was I supposed to trade in my personality for one that likes twin sets, grey hair and listens to radio two? That doesn't really work for me.

Swissgemma · 14/04/2016 23:37

I have my hair in two plaits everyday when I'm working... Stops my hair getting knotted and damaged in the snow! It also is much better at keeping it under control in my helmet!

seoulsurvivor · 14/04/2016 23:38

I'm 33 and do it all the time and get loads of compliments. I cannot understand this mad obsession that people have with styles being inappropriate for your age. I like how they look, I look good with them so whatever.

My older colleague also wears them and looks great too.

FlyRussianUnicorn · 15/04/2016 00:19

Oh Sad your telling me I have to get rid of my teletubbies dummy? Thats a blow.

A no vote here, sorry!

LostInTheColonies · 15/04/2016 02:49

I regularly do this for skiing - I love it. Complete with bobbles . I'm 47, and am now thinking that rather than using skiing as an excuse for plaits, I should do it more often Grin

Have very recently and regretfully given my bobbles to DD (6) so will have to take them back when she's not looking.

Antlily · 15/04/2016 06:43

FlyRussianUnicorn Thank you that's more or less what I do but never thought about hairspray. Might give it a go.

nanetterose · 15/04/2016 06:48

You should do as you wish. I don't think anyone should tell you otherwise.
"too old at 70?“
Absolute rubbish!

grubbyslippers · 15/04/2016 06:57

If you were going to do them super neat they may look school like, however they will still be nice- if you Pinterest surfer type plaits there are some very cool styles that someone with your hair and age on your side could carry off no doubt!
Do what you want! Some people will say a bun is granny ish but you wouldn't get flames for that!!!

Ememem84 · 15/04/2016 07:03

I'm plaiting my hair today for work but will pull it to one side and plait it low down. I'm 31. And my hair is thick has a mind of its own and sits just over my boobs v

IAmALeafOnTheWindWatchHowISoar · 15/04/2016 07:13

I'm 51 next month and I have my hair in every style bunch, ponytail, plait and hairstyle going. Even put in funky colours sometimes. My hair is calico which I leave as well sometimes.

snowymountaintops · 15/04/2016 07:23

Go for plaits! 25 is no age fgs.

I loved being a nineties raver - that made me smile! Yes DM's too Smile.

sashh · 15/04/2016 07:45

25!

Sod off, a student did mine in 2 French plats on the last day of term (hairdressing student and I let her do what she wanted) I'm going to be 50 this year.

WanderingTrolley1 · 15/04/2016 07:51

I'm 38 and plait.

AppleSetsSail · 15/04/2016 07:56

I clicked on this thread expecting to see that you were 48.

Go for it! Post a picture please.

MagicalMrsMistoffelees · 15/04/2016 08:00

I'm 38 and if my hair is just getting greasy I will occasionally go with the two plaits option rather than wash! But I'm a Reception class teacher - I wouldn't have done it whilst working in my old city job, even though I was in my twenties then.

I also occasionally do it on the weekend and definitely on holiday by the pool!
