Am I odd that I read "bakes babies" and though of course?! It's often talked of that babies are cooked and will come out when done plus bun in the oven... It's obvious Grin

Tell me about the impulse house, HD. I've read about the blue and immaced children Grin.

If you've got the space, why not stock up on stuff with a long shelf life? Household things don't often go down in price. Buy today, wipe tomorrow at yesterday's prices!

I have just started a new job. I need to order some envelopes soon. This will be the first time envelopes have been ordered in about 8 years, apparently...the woman in the job back then made a slight mis-calculation with the box/unit thing and so they had to build a special cupboard to store the bastard things use them until they ran out, and have been sticking them down with sellotape for the past 2 years because they're not sticky any more.

paxillin You missed a trick with the kidney beans - you could have made cake with them!

Oh god, TheRattleBag, DH would definitely grab the kids and leave me to my kidney bean misery then. Sticking them in stir fries was bad enough.

Speaking as a woman who had 72 tins of soup (yes, seventy two) as it was on an awesome deal and saw us through an entire winter...

Amazon are awesome for bulk deals. If we are talking about toilet rolls, how about 108 rolls for £13.99 with free postage? www.amazon.co.uk/Renova-Duplex-Toilet-Tissue-Paper/dp/B016WSF0P8/ref=lp_405285031_1_20?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1459976041&sr=1-20&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

I also have had issues from ordering at Approved Food. And when Ariel was on half price at £5.50 for a massive box, well, you can see where this is going, can't you?

emwithme you have my sympathy ...I used to have to send out invoices in envelopes - several years ago I used to go through 150 or so a year. So I ordered a box of 500.
Then I went on a reduce/recycle kick and tried to get the recipients to return/reuse them - and it was incredibly successful...went down to using less than 50 a year.
Then I went a step further and started issuing invoices by email
I currently have about 200 envelopes left with no sticky ...I have to sellotape or pritt stick them and think I will be doing for the next 20 years as I now use less than 10 a year Sad ....tempted to bin them but then it was pointless me going on my reduce kick...

I've discovered in January that frozen meat does not last for ever. I threw away everything that was over a year old and am working my way to empty the chest freezer. It will soon be 3 months we have baught meat (bar one or two slips) and we still are not through. Sigh

None perishables on the other hand: The less often I need to shop the happier I am. I just baught 2years worth of washing up liquid. I love bulk buying. It means I never run out.

It means I never run out.

I find the opposite, in the op's head she has enough bog roll to last forever, then one day it will be unexpectedly gone and she wont think to buy it Grin. Perhaps its just me.

OP are you my mil?

I' afraid that I'm affected in the same way I actually looked this morning and thought 'we're running low, I'd better get some more'.

Not sure if it helps but my thinking is that they'll get used, so I may as well pick some up when they're on offer (I buy the packs of 16), and save money in the long run.

Because of this thread, I panicked at the supermarket yesterday. I bought 16 toilet rolls instead of my usual 9.

Then I went back for 16 more Blush

Note to self - suggest Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is required the next time DH comes home makes the poor Ocado driver lug in with a ton of stuff we don't need.

But to completely derail OP how on earth did you end up putting Immac on your babies head?

I know this is so not the point of the thread - but if I wanted to stockpile toilet paper / non perishables like OP's husband but didn't want to join the CostCo club, is there anywhere in particular should go? and do they deliver online (don't have a car).

Or do I just bulk buy when Tescos etc has good offers on?

How much is Costco Kirkland loo roll?

The Home Bargains stuff is £2.50 for 9 rolls and it's great. Can Costco beat that?

Avonandice · 08/04/2016 09:41

Another Costco wife here,
we have enough loo roll to last us till July,
Enough washing powder to last for three months
The same with fabric conditioner
Enough bread for a month
6kg Nutella
Rice - 25kg of RICE!
180 eggs
And a
5kg haggis!

The rest of the stuff i will use but what possessed him to buy a haggis?

Aridane - I am whispering this, but I got an amazing deal on loo roll from Approved Food (108 rolls, I think for less than a tenner - can't remember) although you have to wait for the good deal to come up.

Be careful about Approved Food. You have to factor in postage but they have some amazing deals. I got some rolls of 300 sandwich bags for 50p. They were absolutely brilliant, I bought about twenty rolls over ten years ago and I am finally running out.

Another place for a good bulk buy is Amazon. I am down to my last dozen rolls and I am considering my options. The suggestion DH made of just bunging another four-pack on the shopping order is not worthy of consideration.

Oh my goodness - thank you, LisaMed.

And whispering back, I went through a phase with Amazon buying multipacks of brightly colored toilet paper. So cheery in the bathroom - but a bit dear (so I save / hoard them for my en suite)...

I have this problem.

I went to Costco yesterday, I haven't been for a month or two so I bought toilet tissue and kitchen roll. Luckily I checked with DH before buying dishwasher tablets as we have over 300 at home already. Yes - we already had plenty of tissue at home already - I found it this morning! We also have 8 boxes of cereal (3 Weetabix, 2 shreddies, 2 rice krispies and a musli). Its hard not to get carried away!

Avonandice - July when?

I have IBS and PTSD. The PTSD stems back to running out when I was a child and the horror of not being able to wipe my bum Shock

At last count I had 240 loo rolls...

Don't worry, I'm already having counselling.
