Because it's always an insult.

But no-one is ever named.

If you do it, what do you mean? Why do you do it?

Does it ever cross your mind that long-standing, non-name-changing posters might be very hurt by your accusations?

If you're going to do it, have the courage of your convictions and name names.

Can I also just say, for the sake of clarity, that I don't actually want people to start naming names. I'd just like people not to use 'MN Royalty' as they do. Because it's never specific, and it leaves people wondering if they're the ones who are being slagged off.

RickOShay · 03/04/2016 21:13

Well in the spirit of clarity I would say the reason why mn royalty is now used as an insult is surely self expanatory.

BIWI · 03/04/2016 21:19

Say how?

OP posts:
RickOShay · 03/04/2016 21:22

Because mn royalty were not a particularly nice bunch unless you were in cahoots with them.

AlleyCatandRastaMouse · 03/04/2016 21:22

and it leaves people wondering if they're the ones who are being slagged off

Only if they consider themselves royalty, though BIWI if they do not how can they be offended. Grin

I think it's a valid point to suggest that only people who consider themselves to be MN Royalty are offended by it's use.

SurferJet · 03/04/2016 21:38

Biwi - it might have been easier to start a thread asking people if they consider themselves MN royalty - then you'd know for certain who's getting offended. ( I reckon only about 5 people as I'm sure 99.9% of people couldn't give a toss about the MN royalty thing )

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/04/2016 21:43

shuffles in... Sorry maryz, in fairness to you, I know you'd tell me to STFU if needed. Blush

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/04/2016 21:44

Oh good that posted, I tried to post an apology hours ago.

BIWI · 03/04/2016 21:44

Grin MaryZ

Surfer - why would I have done that though? I'm not in the least interested in whether or not people consider themselves MN Royalty. What I am bothered about is people slagging off other posters, and hiding behind the MN Royalty thing. So they can slag people off without actually having to name them.

It's weird isn't it, because some people get upset about being considered MN 'royalty' but I've a sneaking suspicion, there are also some people who get upset at not being considered MN 'royalty' Grin

Perhaps we should get a 'royalty' exchange scheme going, whereby name changers who wish to be considered 'royal', can have a little crown symbol next to every post they make.

BIWI · 03/04/2016 21:49

God knows what we're all replying to this evening, as all the posts seem to be coming in at different times of the day! Grin

Let's just all agree to be offended by everything.

I started about 3 posts on this and deleted them, because really there's nothing to say about the Royalty thing, it's all a bit daft and cringey.

Someone said the other day it's people no one will challenge. This could be someone with bitchy loyal mates who would turn up and flame you, or people everyone likes so you'd get flamed for disagreeing with them.

Doesn't make them royalty, just people whom it's a hassle to disagree with for whatever reason.

WorraLiberty · 03/04/2016 21:52

Well that's just fucking offensive.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 03/04/2016 21:52

MNHQ seem pretty fair to me and don't favour people obviously either.

Some people are just nice and popular.

The bitches Grin

bolleauxnouveau · 03/04/2016 21:52

Am wondering now what day 1 of mumsnet looked like, a couple of select posters and some cheesy nibbles. Some sort of big bang.
