Glad she is finally pooing, must be such a relief.

mylittleduckling · 04/04/2016 07:07

I've just come across this thread and I find it very very scary...:( I hope littlemaemae is ok now please keep us poster on how things have gone on!! the advice you've been given is good. It's probably a bit too late now but I'd call 111 or from the ward and tell them of the situsation as well that way you'd have it recorded as well.

weaselwatcher · 04/04/2016 08:46

Pleased for your dd Smile

littlemaemae · 04/04/2016 09:04

Thank you for all the kind messages.
Thinking about you all and your lovely DCs and your individual struggles.

DD has been waking in pain with arms and legs for the last 5 days or so, with it getting increasingly worse. Have spoken to gp about it and researched and doesn't seem to be linked in any way.
I'm thinking maybe the bowel is pressing on her siatic nerve.
She's starting to refuse the movicol.
I have had next to no sleep the last few days and I am really feeling it! BrewBrew

lazyleo · 04/04/2016 09:08

I'm not surprised you are feeling it; you've been really through the mill with it all. Minimae must also be tired and fed up with it all so its no surprise she's starting to refuse it all. I hope you can find the way to bribe / persuade her to keep taking it without it getting stressful. You have both done so well to get to this stage. Just keep going, easier said than done I'm sure. Have some Cake to go with the Brew

hazeyjane · 04/04/2016 09:10

I don't know if I have weird tastes but I never even notice ds's movicol if I drink it by accident!! I mix it in 150ml water, let it stand until water is clear, add apple squash and stir, it doesn't taste of anything (unless I have the crappiest tastebuds ever!)

Definitely persist even though things are moving.

GreenMarkerPen · 04/04/2016 09:12

hope the consultant appointment can be had earlier so you can get to the reason behind your lovely dd's problems.

MakeItRain · 04/04/2016 09:14

Poor little girl. Hope things continue to move for her today. You must all be exhausted. Are they going to investigate the underlying cause after she's taken all the movicol?

littlemaemae · 04/04/2016 09:21

When we went in for the enema we actually saw her consultant, and he said he has no idea she was so poorly with it as she wasn't too bad when he saw her.
He was concerned and very kind.
The appointment is going to be brought forward and he has been sent letters from all the gps we saw, and continence nurses.
So that should get us seen pretty quickly and all test and referrals done.

I'm going to make it in jelly and ice lollys today. And another tea party in the bath xx

I don't know if you are aware but you as a mum have grown and developed so much through this. As well as being proud of minimae you should be very proud of yourself :)

petmyunicorn · 04/04/2016 10:02

Just a random bit of advice - our GP suggested putting movicol in yogurt or cereal and milk as my DC refused to drink it in anything. We have never looked back!

Newmanwannabe · 04/04/2016 11:19

I mixed it with lemonade, And also soda stream flavour mix

OddBoots · 04/04/2016 11:35

Did I read in the other thread that her weight and height have been dropping off too? If so have the docs said that may be related or are they making other investigations?

MrsOs · 04/04/2016 12:38

Might the pains be growing pains??

KurriKurri · 04/04/2016 12:53

So glad to hear your little one is feeling a bit better and things are starting to move.
I had a severe impaction in hospital once (I'd been on high dose morphine for days and they hadn't thought to give me anything to stop me getting bunged up !)

Lactulose and senna didn;t work - I had to practically beg them to give me an enema I was in so much pain - and they faffed about for two days 'forgetting' to order it etc etc.

Anyway - I can say it was just the most horrible thing - I was shaking with the pain and the cramps - I feel so sorry for your wee girl, as she's so little - at least I was old enough to be able to understand what was going on. You've done a brilliant job fighting for her and hopefully she will start to get back to normal and feel comfortable again very soon.

I wonder if the pain in her legs could be anything to do with her sitting on the toilet trying to go before her full on treatment started ? I know they kept making me sit on the loo in hospital and you get quite achy just sitting there in one position. Or she may have been tensing up her legs and arms with the pain and cramps. - Just a thought Smile

Flowers for you all - your other DD sounds like an absolute star too Smile

GreenMarkerPen · 04/04/2016 13:02

there is no such thing as 'growing pains'
pain always has a reason. strain, injuries, wounds for example.

I can imagine that the pain in the leg is from sitting more than usual, straining on the toilet and not running about as much as usual.

cestlavielife · 04/04/2016 15:43

has she been tested for coeliac? pains could be related. or deferred pain from stomache.

get this blockage sorted and get her investigated again.

Owllady · 04/04/2016 15:56

I'm glad things are on the move and you are getting a bit more support

DropYourSword · 04/04/2016 15:57

there is no such thing as 'growing pains

Clearly said by someone who's never experienced them! Possibly / probably in this case it's not growing pains. But I absolutely suffered with them in my legs when I was younger. Of course pain has a 'reason' but is it unimaginable that bones / ligaments growing /stretching particularly quickly could possible hurt some people?

GreenMarkerPen · 04/04/2016 16:08

Clearly said by someone who's never experienced them!

said by someone whose dc's 'growing pains' turned out to be a painful and serious chronic disease.

DropYourSword · 04/04/2016 16:13

I'm sorry you're cooks was misdiagnosed, that's horrible. But because it wasn't the correct diagnosis for your child they 'don't exist'??

DropYourSword · 04/04/2016 16:14

You're cooks = your child. Bloody autocorrect

Growing pains do exist Green, but just weren't the cause of your dc issues.

I had them awfully at about 9 or 10, one of my friends boys has them atm.

Growing pains aren't likely to be the cause of the little one's pain tho, I agree.

GreenMarkerPen · 04/04/2016 17:09

sorry, didn't want to minimise. pain is pain.
I guess what I wanted to say is that pain always has a reason and should be treated/investigated esp if unusual. and often with children it's difficult to find the reason because they are not as articulate.

the 'there are no growing pains' came from a couple of consultants we saw.
