We are so relieved too!
She's looking a better colour and her skin has I improved already.
Tummy is still huge but the 'V' between her hip bones is much smaller and it's all generally softer.
It was frightening before. Looking a lot better.
Wondering how long she will be back in nappies.
For the foreseeable future till it has all shrank back nicely?

So pleased to hear she's doing better Thanks

OddBoots · 03/04/2016 15:49

So glad she is on the mend. It might be worth getting some disposable puppy toilet training pads rather than waterproof sheets, they are much more comfortable to sit on.

EduCated · 03/04/2016 15:52

That is such a relief to read! I am so glad things are on the move. I never thought I could be so excited to read about a small child pooing Grin

TheDailyWail · 03/04/2016 16:01

Nor I, EduCated! 🙂

Mae we kept DD1 in pull-ups until the end of the regime and then went back to pants whilst working out her daily maintenance dose. I don't think there is a wrong or right answer, depends on your DD and how you cope with dealing with poo incidents.

Getting back to 'normal' takes a long time - our experience is years. Our DD1 only really got properly diagnosed at 4 and she's now 8 and it's only been in the last 6 months we've not had major poo incidents. She's on 2 sachets of Movicol a day plus other medication.

It's easy to look back in hindsight once you're on the other side but patience and being prepared for set backs would have helped me deal with this issue a lot better.

Great to hear she is doing better. You are a superstar mum.

Youarentkiddingme · 03/04/2016 17:24

When DS was severely impacted last time once he started moving he passed cow pay for 19 hours continously - even when asleep.

Do not remove pull ups!

Andylion · 03/04/2016 17:47

Thanks guys, I will tell her to MNers all over the country are celebrating.

Yes, and maybe a special hug for your other DD, she sounds terrific, cleaning up poo and, if I recall from your other thread, entertaining her sister while in the bathroom.

SlightlyCrumpled · 03/04/2016 18:07

So pleased things are improving, brilliant news. You've been fab OP Smile.

littlemaemae · 03/04/2016 18:17

Soup, so glad your DD is better now especially as she is getting older. Your family must have been trough the mill.
Kidding, 19 hours - even in his sleep, you deserve a medal. Must have been your best and worst day rolled into one!

DD(6) has been a little star. She is quite a high needs child so she has done extra well to be patient and mature during this.
A family member is taking her for a day out tomorrow and dp too her to the park and we bought her some new trainers yesterday.
I'm going to try to spend some extra time with her in the evenings.
Puppy pads is a fab idea thanks!

Brilliant news!

RunswickBay · 03/04/2016 18:31

Really pleased for you. I can only imagine how wonderful your dd will feel afterwards when she's 'empty'.

Thinking of you all. Flowers

MiscellaneousAssortment · 03/04/2016 19:52

Yay! Things are properly starting.

Please don't stop and let anyone tell you it's all better now. This is the start of solving the acute problem right now. Not the end. A bit of a pre-emptive growl there!

You've done marvelously well Flowers

Delurking to send another cheer out for poo. Hang in there op.

lazyleo · 03/04/2016 21:25

Wish there was a fireworks / celebration smiley - great news mae xx

purplepandas · 03/04/2016 21:27

Yay for your DD. I just logged on to see how she is doing. Really glad op.

PegsPigs · 03/04/2016 21:29

So glad to hear she's feeling more herself. Sounds odd but I'd like to see some 'after' pictures to see what her stomach looks like normally. Can't believe HCPs let it get this far Sad

AnyFucker · 03/04/2016 21:46

Good news Smile

kipperydippery · 03/04/2016 21:47

I have also just checked in to see how you & mini Mae are doing. Great news that she had a poonami. Yay :)

My DD has been on Movicol for years. When things get to gravy like consistency don't stop the Movicol/ whatever medicine you have. You HAVE to keep going at a lower dose for months, if not years, otherwise everything gets bunged up again.

It is nothing to do with little Mae's diet etc. The colon has stretched so much it doesn't recognise normal signals, it needs ages to get back to normal.

If the thought of Movicol for years fills you with dread, my DD is now nearly 10. We both keep an eye on things, she even tells me if I need to give her an extra sachet. It is normal life now, she gets to pick her favourite fruit juice which she loves, she hates being even slightly bunged up.

I'm sure you are very familiar with the poo scale the hospitals have, DD1 still tells me which number poo she had & we adjust diet & movicol accordingly.

One thing I have found, if your DD needs antibiotics for anything in the future you may need to reduce the Movicol dose. My DD1 is allergic to penicillin & I have found the antibiotics she has seem to work as well as Movicol. She doesn't need both, HTH.

Youarentkiddingme · 03/04/2016 22:16

Oh yes the daily adjustments. I got 150 sachets for DS 15 days ago and have 5 left and 5 days of no poo! We are back tomorrow. Although I'm not sure what you do when you get to 8-12 sachets a day as a maintenance dose and still get impacted.

Be warned you may get the 'blockage' 'impacted stool' pass. The movicol works to clear what's there by holding water in the bowel. The lesser hard bits get soft and are removed and as they pass the really hard bits they wear them down like sea wears down a stone!

About a month ago DS suddenly yelled from the bathroom "I've finally got rid of my meatball" Hmm

Grin

(He's 11 with ASD so often is quite factual and honest!)

readyforno2 · 03/04/2016 22:16

Brilliant news! Well done LittleMae

Clankboing · 03/04/2016 23:06

Bless her, I'm so glad for her and you too. Well done for supporting your daughter so wholeheartedly and in the face of 'opposition'.

notapizzaeater · 03/04/2016 23:53

I'm so pleased "he's" finally coming out :-)
