OP

Glad she has made progress! Hopefully the standard of care you receive long term will improve!!

BoatyMcBoat · 03/04/2016 11:13

Oh I'm so glad for you! (HAd a poonami myself the other day - absolute volcano Blush - gastrobug in my case - so I have huge sympathy for you.) Keep her drinking clear fluids, as dehydration is a possibility.

billabye · 03/04/2016 11:40

That's great news. KOKO Smile

Sallystyle · 03/04/2016 11:46

I am so happy for her and you.

:)

QuimReaper · 03/04/2016 11:53

HOORAY FOR POONAMI!!!!

Grin
JocastaFarquhar · 03/04/2016 12:03

hooray OP! I wonder if all the liquid was from the enema?

MrsOs · 03/04/2016 12:09

Have been following your threads shocked at what has been going on for your little lady and you. I really hope the medicine continues to work and she gets some lasting relief and that you can find the cause of all of this. I think once this is over she deserves a major treat as this has been hell!! Will keep checking to see that things continue to go in the right direction (ideally down the loo!!!).

summerdreams · 03/04/2016 12:23

Glad to know your getting somewhere. im In the middle of doing bowel prep with my own toddler for a colonoscopy on tuesday and I generally think your amazing for getting that much movicol into your dd im trying and failing to get 1 sachet a day in!

littlemaemae · 03/04/2016 12:55

Urgentschoolhelp- my god, that is shocking care. When you are at your most vulnerable anyway and have a tiny human to look after. Thank goodness you got the help you needed eventually and hope you are ok now.

The water must be from the enema, I didn't think of that!

Found dd6 clearing up poo in the bedroom, she said I'm not bothered it's only poo. Bless her! So the explosions are really underway now.
Lots of undigested food in there too.

Thanks guys, I will tell her to MNers all over the country are celebrating WineGrin

Summerdreams-
I have been mixing up full amount in the morning and putting it in drinks during the day.
Also I have found a bath time tea party will make her drink huge volumes of absolutely anything from a plastic teacup.
Also, cosmocol says its flavourless but I actually think it's orange flavour so goes nicely in juice. Movicol is really salty, poor kids. I couldn't drink it!

OP posts:
Youarentkiddingme · 03/04/2016 13:17

My DS prefers it in fresh orange - helps with movement too!

Did you know once made up it has to be drunk within 6 hours and refrigerated?

littlemaemae · 03/04/2016 13:22

I was told 12 hours.
But like you, I thought 6 hours. That's why I never bothered to batch make it.
I will start making it twice daily to be on the safe side.
Thanks X

littlemaemae yes it was appalling care!

So what are you doing going forward, will she be on this regimen every single day for the foreseeable?

Has her tummy actually got noticeably smaller?

BustingOut · 03/04/2016 13:28

It's so lovely to see how many genuine mumsnetters there are on here who truly want the best for the op. It makes for a very pleasant change. So glad everthing is on the up littlemae or perhaps on the down would be more appropriate!

40somethingwonderful · 03/04/2016 13:29

Great news

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/04/2016 13:37

Brilliant!

Roseformeplease · 03/04/2016 13:55

Never has a poo been so anticipated.

Well done OP.

Badders123 · 03/04/2016 13:55

I think now that food (solids) are coming out then things are def going in the right direction 👍🏻
The liquid will be from the enema I assume?
I've had picolax, and boy does that work! 😖😳😃

Wolpertinger · 03/04/2016 14:21

Enemas actually contain very little liquid - they are tiny.

Both the Movicol/Cosmocol and enema though work by keeping liquid in the bowel to help keep the stool soft and move it along.

When stool sits in the bowel for a long time it turns into rocks which are impossible to pass and the poo above the rocks can liquefy in an attempt to get out. This sometimes causes confusion as it gets out, looks like diarrhoea and causes people to stop taking laxatives thinking they have diarrhoea when actually the rocks are still there - it's called overflow diarrhoea.

It sounds like what OP's daughter has is a general poonami - bits of rock, bits of food that have sat there for ages, water both added to from the Movicol and that has been sat there stuck above the rocks, just everything! And if your poo moves fast enough it can look like water as it just doesn't get a chance to pick up much brown colour yuk

Next step will be to cut down on the Cosmocol so you get poo of a more thick gravy like consistency not water and then stick with that for a very very very long time.
