Lahore bombing - where is Christian god?

lulucappuccino · 28/03/2016 14:16

Ok, I know this is a very clichéd question, but 70+ people, mainly children, brutally murdered at a Christian, Easter celebration.

Families gone. Lives shattered. Unbearable pain.

WHY would god allow this?

Aibu to think this sort of thing proves there is no Christian god. Or if there is, "he's" not a good force?

There's only one poster shoving opinions down throats on this thread...

Avoidance, faux niceness and more inflammatory shite. I see the pattern.

never mind the false stories

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:06

But clearly being challenged on viewpoints is something that makes those of faith uncomfortable for some reason. I am challenged on my viewpoint and have to defend it on an almost daily basis by those of faith, why is that considered acceptable?

This is a point I tried to make earlier. Other views can be challenged, but religious views are held as sacrosanct for some reason.

justgivemeamo · 28/03/2016 21:06

I don't believe in God and I hope we can move away from religions soon. But I think your question is Odd, because it was not in Gods name this was committed but in Allahs, just like all the other recent slaughter we have seen. As is the war with Daesh too.

The Islamic extremists are at war with the rest of the world, question Allah not christian god.

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:07

I'm failing to see what Fuckaducky has done wrong here

justgivemeamo · 28/03/2016 21:07

religious views are held as sacrosanct for some reason

Are they?

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:08

Yes, because if you challenge them then people start to shout 'goady', with no evidence of goading as.

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:09

Goadiness, obviously.

Waltermittythesequel · 28/03/2016 21:09

It's not just here, Cock. She behaved appallingly to another poster who didn't deliberately cause offence and ended up having to have her thread removed.

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:09

It's bad form to chase posters from thread to thread.

cockacidal

I saw many threads on philimena and other stuff to do with catholic church and IRA and never saw anyone shout goady or offensive

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:13

I'm talking about this thread

AugustaFinkNottle · 28/03/2016 21:15

But I think your question is Odd, because it was not in Gods name this was committed but in Allahs

They're the same deity.

Waltermittythesequel · 28/03/2016 21:15

Listen, I'm not some devout religious person but seeking out those who are so you can shit all over their threads is not on no matter what side you're on.

And fuck I don't know where you're from but I grew up in rural Ireland and I know the depravity members of the RC sank to.

I had an aunt who was sent to the Magdalene Laundries.

I've never heard of people being spat at in the street or attacked with nonsense about non belief killing their parents.

But, of course it could be true so apologies for doubting you. It does make the fanatical projection more understandable.

PunkrockerGirl · 28/03/2016 21:31

Nice goady thread title OP. Biscuit
Are you going to return to the thread and engage in some reasonable debate?
Or have you name changed and come over from the other thread (about derailing religious threads), because you're angry that not everyone is agreeing with you on there?

Or does it upset you that try as you might, you won't cause anyone who has a strong faith to question it, or renounce it because of a few ignorant and bigoted rantings an internet site?

It would be laughable if it weren't so sad pathetic that there can never be a decent conversation about faith on here. Its not my experience irl, it's only on here there's such angst against anyone who professes to have a faith. It's like 'I don't understand it, but you've got something good in your life that I haven't got, I'm not prepared to talk to you in a reasonable manner about it, I'll make no effort to understand it and how it affects your life and frankly, I resent it'.
So the default tactic is to mock it, take the piss out of those whose faith is important and cite it as the reason for all that is wrong in your own lives.
My worst experience on here was during the few weeks before my brother died, when I said how much support we'd had through people praying for us as a family. I wasn't delusional, I'm a palliative care nurse and I knew he wasn't going to recover. But there were some truly revolting responses. As I said before, it's almost as people were resentful that I'd got something that was helping me get through an awful time Hmm
I absolutely respect anyone's right not to have a faith. But there can never be any rational debate on here, it always gets derailed on to stuff like faith schools, organised worship etc. You don't want faith schools? Fine, well campaign against them. Don't assume that because I'm a Christian it's my fault that they exist. Fwiw my children didn't attend one. But instead of expending energy on faith bashing on here , perhaps try getting off your backsides and lobbying your local council/MP/clergy?
But that would involve engaging in some informed, reasonable debate wouldn't it, so I won't hold my breath.

WantFriesWithThat · 28/03/2016 21:31

Walter unfortunately your words are going to fall on deaf rate here. You can Literally have your legs blown off but cock will accuse you of posting like "thought for the day"

Yes I am still angry at this remark as no one can quite literally walk in my shoes. ...

WantFriesWithThat · 28/03/2016 21:31

Ears*

FantasticRik · 28/03/2016 21:41

What I really don't understand, is why some atheists begin threads about God, and then invest so much time in shouting down posters who do.

There is no hard evidence that God exists, which is why it is called 'faith'.

As others have said, within us we have the capacity for great good, or great evil. If religion didn't exist then people would commit atrocities for other reasons.

Live and let live. Fine OP (Fuck or Cock I'm not sure which of you started the thread as your posting styles/arguments are so similar) you don't believe in God - stop giving Him so much of your time!

As an aside Fries, thanks for sharing your story. Very brave. Sorry for what you went through.

Waltermittythesequel · 28/03/2016 21:44

Fries you're absolutely right, it's pointless.

I'm so sorry for what happened. You're inspiring.

Some people only hear what they want to hear; I suppose they feel happier in their 'victimisation'.
As I've said multiple times, I've nothing against personal belief. I just think that religious belief should have no impact on decision making in society. It should not impact on the non religious.
