To ask how many teeth you have?

I've got 28 teeth. My wisdom teeth came through at age 18-ish, then I have 3 more molars (on each side top and bottom), then a canine, then 2 incisors at the front. Totalling 28. But I've just read that adults generally have 32. Why am I missing some teeth? A diagram shows 4 molars, not 3. I have no gaps and have never had any teeth removed!

28 - had all four wisdom teeth out a few years ago, as they were rubbish. They kept on emerging, then the gum would heal/partially heal back over them, and made flossing impossible as my teeth were all tightly packed together!

Never had any other teeth out though, never had a filling,

  1. I've had one molar removed and my wisdom teeth haven't come through. Don't know if they will as I'm 26 now and I thought they'd have come through now.

My back molars at the top didn't come through until I was about 16 Confused

DragonMamma · 27/03/2016 11:16

I had 32 until very recently when I had a wisdom tooth removed. So 31 now.

Patapouf · 27/03/2016 11:31

29 but one has a crown and another desperately needs one. My teeth are terrible; dentist tells me I have old lady dry mouth and don't produce enough saliva to protect my teeth plus I already have thin enamel.
2 extractions of normal teeth and one horribly impacted wisdom tooth out too.

hummingbird100 · 27/03/2016 11:35

I love the thought of everyone counting their teeth! bestzebbie your info is fascinating - I've actually remembered my toddler DS has a dentist appointment next week for a check up so I may just ask the dentist to confirm which ones I'm actually missing!

  1. I had two taken out to bring back my over bite then I had all four wisdom extracted as they couldn't come through
LittleCandle · 27/03/2016 11:44

I've had several teeth removed. Two were for braces, lower wisdoms taken out. I've lost teeth after accidents and two after abscesses, which has actually been good for the 4 front lower teeth, which are now moving nicely apart after years of getting more and more wonky. I also have 2 crowns, but have inherited horrifically soft teeth from DF. I hate the dentist. I had to have all my back teeth removed when i was about 2 and I still remember the nightmares I had while under the gas!

quencher · 27/03/2016 11:59

I have counted 31 minus 1 which was removed when I was 15 and I have always had them. All in a straight line and I have never had braces.

I have been told by my dentist to be careful about tooth decay because of how many teeth I have got. There is no space in between them. This makes it difficult to floss.

grannytomine · 27/03/2016 12:04

I've got 28 and funnily enough I asked my dentist if I had all my teeth as I don't remember losing any and I had read I should have 32. He assured me I have all my teeth, just never got wisdom (teeth or otherwise) Actually I am quite impressed that I have got to 62 and still have all my teeth. If you had asked me 40 years ago I would have expected to lose some by now, not got the greatest teeth with quite a few fillings but they actually look quite good. Don't know how that works really.

FuckOffDavid · 27/03/2016 12:05

I have 33. One wisdom tooth has just started to come through so will soon be 34. For some reason I have 2 extra teeth Confused

MrsJohnLuther · 27/03/2016 12:09

26, I had 2 teeth out for a brace and have had 4 wisdoms out (mine started coming through at 16 so it is possible to get them young). So I should have 28 I guess.

bluesbaby · 27/03/2016 12:14
  1. I have a spare.
WeeHelena · 27/03/2016 12:23

Just don't a rough count iv got 32 teeth, 16 top and bottom.

Not lost a single adult tooth and never felt my wisdom teeth come in.

LadyBaelish · 27/03/2016 12:30

32, tbh I'm quite surprised I haven't lost any yet as my family have always had bad teeth.

Pleasemrstweedie · 27/03/2016 12:38

29 - I've lost both my upper wisdom teeth and a lower molar.

I don't think that's bad for 60 Grin

  1. I had all 4 wisdom teeth out and another three for braces as a teen.
lamusic · 27/03/2016 12:49

YerAWizardHarry · 27/03/2016 13:11
