To ask how many teeth you have?

I've got 28 teeth. My wisdom teeth came through at age 18-ish, then I have 3 more molars (on each side top and bottom), then a canine, then 2 incisors at the front. Totalling 28. But I've just read that adults generally have 32. Why am I missing some teeth? A diagram shows 4 molars, not 3. I have no gaps and have never had any teeth removed!

  1. No top wisdom teeth which is probably a good thing as my mouth is over crowded as it is and my bottom ones don't fit. Plus I have one front bottom one missing so I have a middle tooth. No dentist has ever been able to explain why but I have had xrays in the past to check it wasn't in my gum.
bluebump · 26/03/2016 21:40

28 and had 4 removed for braces. It's surprisingly hard to count your teeth without a mirror Grin

MrsBungle · 26/03/2016 21:40
  1. All 4 wisdom, teeth removed and 3 from beside the wisdom teeth as my wisdom teeth grew sideways into them.
ghostyslovesheep · 26/03/2016 21:41

24 - wisdom teeth removed as they where compacted and 4 teeth out for a brace (top and bottom)

no fillings though - at 45!

glueandstick · 26/03/2016 21:42

I still have a couple of baby teeth. Never fell out and adult teeth never grew above them.

polarbearshuffle · 26/03/2016 21:43

26 and a bit! One of my wisdom teeth has cut through the gum slightly and is just sitting there. But even if I had all four wisdom teeth I'd only have 30. Hope the top ones don't come through because it doesn't feel like there's any room/gum left!

  1. I've never had any wisdom teeth.

Interestingly my sister, ds and dd have all had the same milk tooth which didn't fall out. Ds also has some adult molars missing.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 26/03/2016 21:45

27 'standard' and one wisdom. Had one molar removed when pregnant as it was utterly fucked.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/03/2016 21:45

Never counted before, 15 on top (1 removed as adult), 16 on bottom.

HappinessLivesHere · 26/03/2016 21:46

32 here! All adult teeth plus 4 wisdom

TheTartOfAsgard · 26/03/2016 21:46

I have 19 left. I had to have all lower back teeth removed due to osteomyelitis in my jaw a few years back, plus top wisdom teeth removed due to being impacted. removed.

mineofuselessinformation · 26/03/2016 21:47

28 - all four wisdom teeth removed when I was 19 as two of them were severely impacted.
It is possible to have 'missing teeth' as a genetic inheritance.
One of mine is on a sticky wicket due to having a root canal at 17 - it's totally black now. Just as well its a molar.

susiella · 26/03/2016 21:47
  1. Large teeth small jaw
80sMum · 26/03/2016 21:47

I have 30. Had 2 removed from top row when I had braces fitted aged 11. I wish that the dentist had removed 2 from the bottom row as well, as it's far too crowded and the teeth are very crooked as a result (top row is fine).

mineofuselessinformation · 26/03/2016 21:47

What is wrong with strikeout these days???

hummingbird100 · 26/03/2016 21:48

I was actually at the dentist this week but I forgot to ask him...he didn't drop his tiny mirror in shock or take lots of photos so I assume it's something he's seen before. I was just curious as I couldn't find much online apart from missing wisdom teeth, but I'm sure mine are there.

That's impressive ghosty, I had my tiny filling at 27 (I'm 30 now), and thought I'd done well to get to that age. Annoyingly DH at 30 is always smug about having 'better teeth' than me because of my one filling and he has none - I floss daily and have for years, and he never does!

My Oh just popped in and asked me how I was while I had my finger stuck in my mouth. I started giggling and said I was counting my teeth!

I have 30, 15 on each row. Never had any removed or stunted in growth, so if we're supposed to have 32 where have two of my teeth gone?????

dudsville · 26/03/2016 21:49

Were my two missing teeth abducted? (been watching x-files)

Noodledoodledoo · 26/03/2016 21:50

My wisdom teeth came through during my A levels - I had them removed at the end of uni. So agree they can come through fairly early.

hummingbird100 · 26/03/2016 21:52

Duds that made me laugh! Check on a diagram, see if you can tell which one has been abducted!

chibsortig · 26/03/2016 21:53

28 no wisdom teeth here. I waited and they never made an appearance.

TheCricketWidow · 26/03/2016 21:54

27

GreatFuckability · 26/03/2016 21:54

i only have 19! all 4 wisdoms removed due to lack of room. plus 8 removed when i had my braces. then i had a molar pulled because it cracked when they were removing my wisdoms and despite filling it it just kept decaying. so yeah, most 6 year olds have more teeth than i do!

dudsville · 26/03/2016 21:55

Ok, so I think the aliens took my lower level 1st or second premolars. The bastards.

Bunnyjo · 26/03/2016 21:56

I have 30

2 of my wisdom teeth have not surfaced as yet and, at the age of 37, I doubt they ever will.
