Which threads get you hooked?

Which threads do you rush to hide because you feel the rage when you read them?? Grin

I love a good wedding thread and the 'joint finances' threads Grin

I have to hide the threads about SAHP housework roles and also the BF/FF threads. I also hide a lot of the MIL threads too actually Grin

sparkling - I love threads about the politics around feeding someone else's cat Grin

I can't bear threads about gender bias clothes and toys for children etc. The whole 'boys wearing dresses' debate drives me mad Grin

I also love threads where people have a whole host of staff to meet all their needs: nannies, au pairs, gardeners, cleaners, maids, butlers, window washers, car washers, people who iron their clothes for them etc etc because I can't believe people actually live like that. I love an insight into other people's worlds!! Grin

I like a good nostalgia thread 80'/90's etc. I might start a Saturday night one.

CakeNinja · 25/03/2016 13:17

I love the ones where people are 'shaking with rage' because someone touched their baby in the pram/had a confrontation with their neighbour about a missing plant pot/their dp missed the toilet and peed a bit on the floor. Excellent reading.

Also quite enjoy a wedding one, where all porters pile in basically saying how much they hate weddings Grin

PerpendicularVincent · 25/03/2016 13:40

I love threads about parking, cheeky behaviour or celeb gossip.

I actively avoid trans threads and anything that involves the word 'judgemental' because they just get aggro. I also dislike threads about diet because I find the competitive undertaking that often appears quite worrying.

PerpendicularVincent · 25/03/2016 13:41

Undereating ffs

WaitrosePigeon · 25/03/2016 13:42

I can't stand all the trans transphobic bollocks.

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2016 13:44

You must ^never feed anyone elses's cat Writer*. Grin

EponasWildDaughter · 25/03/2016 13:56

I have finally, after 8 years, begun to learn to spot the obvious fishing for info threads by journo's etc by their titles and i avoid those.

Not interested in FB so avoid those totaly. Plus finance threads, benefit bashing threads, grammar police threads, moan about MN threads, and the weird cliquey 'hilariously stupid and made up' threads; like people pretending they're dogs, cats, toddlers or school girls from the 1920s. Sorry :) I find i don't tend to click on anything which already has hundreds of answers. Unless it sounds particularly juicy.

I DO click on MIL threads, trouble with teen threads, wedding threads, topical threads (xmas at xmas, easter at easter IYKWIM) Neighbor/boundary threads, driving threads, parking and obviously angry threads.

ladydepp · 25/03/2016 14:00

I try to avoid all the more serious threads and really try to only click on light hearted ones.

I also love a travel or book thread, and any thread involving my dc's schools (not many of those).

My favourites are along the lines of: funny things your toddler said; WTF was that book about; where can I find a lovely cottage in Dorset,; how do I make my teenager speak in full sentences, etc....

No no no to Sahms vs Wohms, towel washing, BF/FF, school gate pathos, useless DPs...

I'm not sure I've had the pleasure of a parking thread, must have a look soon Smile

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2016 14:01

Mmm, I think I am over MIL threads and general sticky beaking into family stuff. And definitely all the Mothers day angst makes me Hmm

I have Teenagers but still find the Teenagers topic hard going sometimes.

whifflesqueak · 25/03/2016 14:03

I can spend hours pouring over threads about what people feed their small children.

I have absolutely no idea why I find them so engrossing.

Grannyspantry · 25/03/2016 14:04

Oh God I can't stand the 'Mumsnet AIBU is sooo awful; AIBU?' Grin

Grannyspantry · 25/03/2016 14:04

Me too whiffle!

MrsJayy · 25/03/2016 14:04

Corrie threads.

Love how we all tear strips off one another but all agree Corrie is crap! Grin

I roll my eyes at 'my 17 year old DS just loves wearing his elsa dress, why is that a problem' threads.

MrsJayy · 25/03/2016 14:10

I always imagine Au Pairs as wide eyed 18yr olds who have a cupboard to sleep in and a crumb to eat like Cinderella

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2016 14:11

I am with you re the gender threads Derek . Especially the blue/pink thing.

TwentyCupsOfTea · 25/03/2016 14:19

Threads by very rich people - it's like reading a book!
Also weddings, I like it when the bride posts!

FarrowandBallAche · 25/03/2016 14:27

Hate threads about
Poo/shitting oneself
Vomit
Boils/spots
Feet/toenails
Mil
Am I pregnant

Like threads about
Parking
Holidays
Dogs
Happy Valley/current TV show

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 25/03/2016 14:31

I don't go anywhere near the trans threads. They are an odd place where nobody is right and everyone is wrong. I suspect anyone who is transgender probably avoids them too and sticks to the cat/wedding/clothing threads like the rest of us Grin

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2016 14:33

Yes, I think the poo stuff is Hmm. If you have to start a thread 'I am not the poo troll' then do us all a favour and don't start the thread.

I love watching live TV with an accompanying thread. BGT is a crap show but made 100% better with a thread.

The Olympic 2012 opening ceremony thread was amazing. Or i should say threads, it filled loads. Great evening.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 25/03/2016 14:35

I'm not sure I've had the pleasure of a parking thread, must have a look soon

Shock. SAY WHAT!? There's about fifty a day, it will take you three seconds to find one. Enjoy!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 25/03/2016 14:38

I might start a parking one. Santa Parked His Sleigh In front of My Fairy Door.
I should be a troll. I'd be great at it.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 25/03/2016 14:42

I like the moral dilemma/wwyd type of threads.

I quite like AIBU but and its a big BUT only if it is a genuine aibu about something where there are definitely two different sides to a story. Not the increasingly tedious "Aibu to think dog shit on pavements is disgusting" or, notably, one thread I noted in AIBU recently which was simply headed "Getting a novel published" and the op just wanted advice on getting her fucking book read by someone!

Love baby names, property diy, the Archers, teenagers, secondary education.
