Am 2nd time mum so I should know better, so excuse me but...

Close family member, their baby is 6 months younger than mine, is so advanced!

Sitting up unaided at 4 months etc.

I don't even know what age dc2 sat up at

My dd 15 months has no desire to walk, bum shuffles at lightning speed so no real motivation. Keep getting 'jokes' that the other baby will be walking long before mine. I really don't care about when they walk as I did the whole obsessive worry with dc1 and he did it in his own time.

MIL, SIL are putting it down to 'salts' that were taken during pregnancy to aid bone structure and swimming.

I only took the same pre pregnancy vitamins I took with first dc.

Is this mad or am I missing something?

Other baby is PFB, right? They are completely mad. Babies do things at different rates.

All babies do different things at different times, whether you got certain no doubt expensive "salts" in pregnancy or not will not make a blind bit of difference ffs!
Honestly some people will believe any old guff, the threads about MLMs have really opened my eyes to what some people will swallow literally

if it makes you feel any better, my dc1 sat unaided at 4 months and walked at 13 months.
my dc2 sat unaided at 8 months, and walked at 11.
my dc 3 sat unaided at 9 months and within 3 weeks weeks was walking.

because children are not machines and do things at their own pace. you and i both know this, dont let the jokes get to you. i promise in a few years no one will be able to tell who could sit up first!

My ds was crawling at 4 months. Proper crawling at 18 weeks. Nothing to do with my vitamin intake during pregnancy. He was a very active baby in the womb and this just continued.

He's now 8 years old, football mad, very agile and in to all sports.

DD on the other hand was v different.

Absolutely! Do I have to sprinkle it over her or rub it in? Would it also help with dogs or cats?

Tissue salts? It's some sort of homeopathic woo that I've seen on FB recently. AFAIK there's nothing in it. Likelihood is that the baby is just pretty strong - a friend's DC was walking at 7 months and helping her unload the dishwasher at 8 (I witnessed this if anyone is ) but he was a very strong little boy. He's no more physically advanced than his peers now I think, although he is very bright. Not surprising considering both his parents are academically extremely successful.

All I would add is that present performance is no indication of what lies ahead! My pfb hit all her milestones early. She is very much average academically at age 11 (although not at all 'average' to me of course). Her little sister was late talking and walking and is flying academically. So those salts and that ability to sit up early will mean diddly squat in the future!!

It's just, it would be great to have a great mouse catcher or Crufts winner on my hands.

BadDoGooder, fortunately my high-strung cat who managed to bite our vet is safely neutered. I have to find a nice placid one.

If the mother is yapping on about salts then I don't think the child will be making great academic leaps later on - if that is what they are hearing at home.
I knew people taking brainy baby supplements and they couldn't explain what they did either.

I've got some table salt in the cupboard. Will try that

My ds is 12 months and he only started properly crawling 3 weeks ago. Not walking yet. Hopefully this will help

This takes me back OP. My DS crawled really early but couldn't pick up small beads even at age of two. He's not a potential Olympic athlete and it had nothing to do with salts that he could crawl early. DS2 snatched the spoon off me at four months and refused to be fed after that. He is not a genius/Olympic athlete either.

Competitive parenting just says more about the boaster than the DC. Pps who said children just learn different skills at different rates hit the nail on the head.
