AIBU?

To say that no these 'salts' during pregnancy are not making your baby reach milestones at lightning speed?

but secretly worry I'm missing something

Am 2nd time mum so I should know better, so excuse me but...

Close family member, their baby is 6 months younger than mine, is so advanced!

Sitting up unaided at 4 months etc.

I don't even know what age dc2 sat up at Blush

My dd 15 months has no desire to walk, bum shuffles at lightning speed so no real motivation. Keep getting 'jokes' that the other baby will be walking long before mine. I really don't care about when they walk as I did the whole obsessive worry with dc1 and he did it in his own time.

MIL, SIL are putting it down to 'salts' that were taken during pregnancy to aid bone structure and swimming.

I only took the same pre pregnancy vitamins I took with first dc.

Is this mad or am I missing something?

Unless those salts are going to ensure ds has high moral standards, wit and compassion, gets a good job of his choice, shares love and excitement with a special partner and has an overall more enjoyable life, I couldn't care less what they were capable of! No-one ever put the age they were sitting up at on their CV or mentioned it on a date in an attempt at seduction.

Note: I tell myself this every day as I freak out about why my baby hasn't clapped/waved/written a novel yet. If anyone told me it's 'cos I didn't take the salts I would still laugh as loud at them as I have reading some of these posts. Rub it into them while they sleep like a pork joint - LOL

My middle DD, now 20, did everything earlier than average.

There must have been some magic dust added, that year, to Iceland's basic Pork sausages and the crappiest white bread, that I craved and stuffed my face with.

Disclaimer; I grilled them , so they were practically health food.

Reaching milestones early or missing stages is a double edged sword, it can be markers for other problems.
I now know that my DD not crawling or bum shuffling going straight for walking was a marker for her dyslexia.

I ate a lot of ready salted hula hoops when pregnant with dd1. Is that why she's in the top set for maths?

I walked at 9 months.

My mum drank Guinness every day while pregnant....

It's a load of rubbish, take what they say with a pinch of salt Grin.

My eldest could dd hold her head up at 3 weeks and was cruising at 7 months.

My second dd didn't even try to walk till she was 13 months.

Dd1 had a handful of words until she was 2 whereas dd2 was speaking in simple sentences at 18 months.

I ate pretty my children the same in both pregnancies and took the same pregnancy vitamins. Babies are all different, some will be quicker to learn motor skills while others will be great talkers.

I am giggling at this, while knowing if I was pregnant I would be googling furiously and placing an order at dodgypregnancysupplements.com

My eldest is 10. Is it too late for him if I sprinkle him with salts while he sleeps? What about a 5yo?

My eldest couldn't figure out how to crawl at all. Just lay and shouted furiously at the floor with his bum in the air. Walked at 10.5 months. I ate a lot of granny smith apples and pickled cauliflower when i was pregnant.

My youngest was crawling at 5 months, climbing up on really fucking high shelves at 7 months. Didn't walk until 15 months. I ate a lot of olives.

Babies do different things at different times. Let her believe what she wants and snigger inwardly. She'll regret the early walking/crawling stuff when she has to move everything within baby reach.

Child 1. Ate lots of cream cakes and sat on the sofa. She talked literally out of the womb and hit every physical milestone early.

Child 2. Ate 'properly' , took regular exercise. He (bless him) delayed with all milestones.

Obviously where I went wrong was I just needed to eat more cake!!!

DD rolled at 6 months, walked at 11 months.
DS2 rolled at 6 weeks, walked at 8 months.

They are twins.
Enough said.
