to ask you to look at 'unanswered messages' from time to time.

With the latest site update, the 'unanswered messages' button is now hidden. It's on a drop down menu next to the big 'Talk' at the top of the page.

I just feel a bit sad that sometimes people are reaching out to others but their message goes unanswered. Okay, sometimes it's trivial stuff, but not always, and even if it is, there's something really dispiriting about being ignored. Yes, they could post in one of the busier sections of the board, but people often try to put things in the 'right' section.

So, go on, take a look. See if you can help an internet stranger asking for help or advice today.

You're right! I found yours on there!

I always used to go through this list to see if someone could be helped. I had forgotten about it.

You maybe should mention this on 'site stuff'?

pippistrelle · 23/03/2016 09:55

I've already had a moan about the button being hidden over on 'site stuff', Buzzardbird: I wasn't alone.

Didn't know it existed! I've only been on here since 2004 Blush

Buzzardbird · 23/03/2016 10:01

I didn't realize that, sorry pip

pippistrelle · 23/03/2016 10:02

Heh, Milk. I feel like I've performed a public service now.

I've been ignored occasionally Grin Literally no answer to my OP.

I did use to look at 'unanswered' occasionally years ago. You've reminded me.

pippistrelle · 23/03/2016 10:04

No worries, Buzzard. I'm just delighted you answered and I wasn't left feeling ignored on 'unanswered messages'.

I will now I know where to find the unanswered messages. Flowers

TeenAndTween · 23/03/2016 10:09

I was just wondering yesterday where the link had got to.

Buzzardbird · 23/03/2016 10:10

I had a health question ignored last week, but it didn't show on 'unanswered messages' because I 'bumped' it. Waste of time, I think it needs tweaking.

MrsSteptoe · 23/03/2016 10:10

I've just responded to two unanswered messages, and in both cases they were duplicate threads which I've now unintentionally reactivated... think I'll keep away from unanswered messages now...

AlpacaLypse · 23/03/2016 10:11

Oh dear I feel guilty now, I used to scroll down through occasionally in case I could help, but hadn't noticed it wasn't there anymore.

scaevola · 23/03/2016 10:12

There used to be a poster who would start a thread in chat if 'unanswered' reached over about 110 messages but I think she must have left.

I've done it once or twice, but not since it was pointed out to me rather forcefully that it's not the same layout on the mobile site and how we're people supposed to do that. Perhaps someone who doesn't mind being shouted at will take up the mantle?

There were 112 unanswered messages just before I started typing this.

pippistrelle · 23/03/2016 10:12

I was just wondering yesterday where the link had got to.

Yes, I had to ask, and a helpful poster over on 'site stuff' told me where to find it. Seems a shame to hide it.

OP posts:
MrsSteptoe · 23/03/2016 10:14

If it's hidden, maybe that's why people are writing a second post?

MattDillonsPants · 23/03/2016 10:17

Thank you! I've been looking for that button ever since the stupid update!! I love unanswered messages!

MattDillonsPants · 23/03/2016 10:17

Lets ask MNHQ to un hide it!

FishWithABicycle · 23/03/2016 10:18

There seem to be several people on the case now - I just replied to a few and in each case by the time I had typed my reply there were at least 6 others too

MiffleTheIntrovert · 23/03/2016 10:20

I'm using the app on my phone, I don't think you can get them on there can you?

I remember when someone (was it puzzle something? Rings a bell) used to remind us all too.

pippistrelle · 23/03/2016 10:20

That seems like a reasonable explanation for some cases, MrsSteptoe. And there's no need to blush: the OP will benefit from your post whether that are two threads or just one.

OP posts:
curren · 23/03/2016 10:27

Where are they on the App?

pippistrelle · 23/03/2016 10:36

The strange thing is I can find the drop down menu opposite talk when I switch to the mobile site using my tablet, but I can't see it when I look on my phone. Weird. I'm not the techie type so I wouldn't have any idea why that might be.

OP posts:
Superwitchy · 23/03/2016 10:41

I haven't been posting on here that long and didn't even know about the unanswered messages, I'll look in future. It's horrible to think of someone waiting, and being ignored.

DessertOrDesert · 23/03/2016 10:53

Bump. Just off over there.

pippistrelle · 23/03/2016 10:54

Scaevola upthread said there were 112 unanswered messages at that time. Now down to 78.
