To Think, If You Do Some Laundry

You hang it up/bung it in the drier when the wash is finished? What you don't do is leave 3 loads in the washing basket for hours so they are partially dry and completely crumpled?

It's lovely when people help, it really is, but when it's a half-arsed job it doesn't feel quite so lovely IYSWIM?

YANBU, and thanks for reminding me that I put a wash on about 2 hours ago, I'm off to hang it up!

I took the dc to their swimming lessons one Saturday recently, the out for something or other.

Got home mid afternoon. DH said "I've washed the school clothes".

Sunday evening I was getting ready for the coming week and asked DH were DS's school uniform was. "I imagine it's still in the washing machine" he said. Oh yes, of course, he'd done the school uniform washing....

Yanbu. As soon as the machine stops I take it out and hang it up.

Totally. I'd rather it sat festering in the laundry basket than in the washing machine.

I always have two backers of damp laundry.

My shit, soon to set fire and kill us all, whirlpool drier cannot keep up with my efficient washing machine.

I have a drying technique (that makes it sound better than it actually is) that ensues that only DH's work shirts need to ironed.

I've said this about a zillion times to DH. I genuinely don't care if he never does any laundry. He does plenty of other stuff, he cooks, he does tons of stuff with the kids, he more than pulls his weight in the house - it's completely fine to leave me all the laundry. It is much MUCH worse to put a load in the machine and then leave it to go stinky than to just do nothing. I have told him that if the load isn't in the machine, it's because I haven't put it in the machine. In all likelihood, the reason I haven't put it in the machine will be because I know I won't have time to 'process' it, so it's better for it to just stay in the basket.

I'm not sure why he finds this so difficult to grasp, but he does. YANBU. Grrrr.

Two BASKETS

I had a lodger one who put a load of washing on and then went out. Fair enough. Came home hours later to repeat the wash and then went out to return the next day!! You can reason with stupid so I just gave her notice!

So no, you are not being unreasonable! I was a little crazy in my reaction but it was her stupidity of repeating the wash that boiled my piss.

Please do share the drying technique wings!

YANBU, and also putting your sweaty kit into the machine without actually setting it to wash is not doing the laundry (DH).

It was DP, he had a day off and thought he would be useful... I smiled ungratefully, then went and hung it all up while grinding my teeth.

The (adult) DC have obviously spent too much time with me, they know to hang it up. You would think after nearly 30 years DP would have got the message too

YANBU -My dp said that he'd "done the washing" over the weekend. He'd taken two loads down to the basement, separated them and put one in the washer, then forgotten about it. The load he'd put in had all of ds's pj tops in and the other load had all of the pj bottoms in so at bed time we had 4 clean but wet pj tops and 4 dry but dirty pj bottoms.

Yep my DH does this, puts washing on then doesn't hang it up or put it in the drier.

YY. My DH left his sweat-soaked gym kit festering in the machine for 2 weeks while we were on holiday. In midsummer . When we got back and opened the utility room door, the smell was so rank that I thought a mammoth cat must have sneaked in and died

I find that leaving it sealed in the machine is better than taking it out to half dry. The smell of half dry clothes takes more than one wash to disappear.

I am guilty of leaving things in the machine too long, but I like to plan when to put the washing on in relation to when I will have time to sort drying it. He puts it on and I don't notice sometimes, and then in can be days in the machine.

My dh washes stuff faster than the clothes dry. They get a wash and a spin then on rads/line. However he will then keep going until he has washed everything and the first load is still damp. So the wet stuff lies around in ikea bags til I get shouty.

So fucking annoying.

I am starting to have rage over the laundry. I am always doing laundry.

I wouldn't want my husband anywhere near my washing machine, though. YANBU!

YANBU. OH no longer does any washing. It's probably saved our relationship.

My OH never does laundry. I prefer it that way. I am at home all day anyway, so I can hang things outside and bring them in for rain etc.
There are 6/7 of us in the house, it would be crazy if we all did our own laundry. I don't have a tumble drier, I watch the weather forecast and know when I can do loads of sheets.
If it's raining and the clothes racks are already full then I don't wash any more. It makes more sense for me to organise everyone's laundry.

Can some one please explain what happens to clothes between being washed (& hence are clean) but still damp, and being dried that is time-related?
I'll usually move them from washer to dryer immediately, but sometimes there is a gap (several hours), never noticed any difference.
