Front room (even if it's at the back)

pudding....but I would ask for a dessert menu rather than a pudding one if out

I always get so confused with lunch/dinner/tea. A friend said they were in the area visiting family for tea time, and they would pop in. I had absolutely no idea what time that meant they would be dropping by!

Its always been breakfast/lunch/dinner for me. DH disagrees (breakfast/dinner/tea for him)

I'm with eebahgum on the hot cold divide. You eat your packed lunch at the same time as someone else eats their school dinner.

Lounges are only to be found in hotels and airports (dearly loved and departed mil)

Some of them are changing for me as I get older: what I used to call the sitting room I usually call the living room now, but never lounge. But we don't really use it as a living room any more since we had an extension at the back, to make a big kitchen/family room, so I've started calling it 'the front room', to distinguish it from the room we actually live in. But I can't call that the living room because it has a kitchen in it.

Sofa is always a sofa, never a settee.
Meals were breakfast/lunch/supper when I was growing up, except for Sunday when the meal at lunchtime was Sunday dinner. I seem to have dropped 'supper' as an adult, though, it's breakfast/lunch/dinner.

My post was not clear at all!!! Working class referred to the evening meal as tea and upper class said dinner.

My youngest dd has a school dinner at the same time as my other two have a packed lunch. So it's lunch and dinner simultaneously. I think we mostly say dinner for the meal around noon and have tea in the evening. Apart from Sunday Dinner, which is a roast that we have at tea time on a Sunday. It's a bit confusing really, I don't know how people we invite round work out what time to arrive.

So Sunday Lunch if its roast is dinner/lunch interchangeably (even though its called lunch). If its just bacon sandwiches its lunch.

We don't have supper.

Pudding is hot. Desert is cold.

Sitting room ....... a lounge is in an airport!! And yes def supper - you go out for or have people round for 'dinner' :)

I was posh growing up, we had
Breakfast, lunch, Gouter, supper.

We had a longe with a 3 peice Suite.

I'm not posh anymore! Now I have breakfast, lunch, dinner but DP has Tea, not dinner, and we have a sofa in our only downstairs room which we fondly call "The Great Hall".

We also have a house name rather than a number, even though we live on an inner city terrace

It really is sitting room or drawing room.
