Workman using my toilet!

NorthernBird92 · 21/03/2016 14:31

2 workmen have literally just arrived they will be here for a maximum of 15 mins.
One of the men asked to use my toilet of course that's fine. 10 mins later he emerges. He didn't open the toilet window and left the toilet door open so I can smell a very nasty smell! My bathroom and toilet are seperate and he definitely did not go into the bathroom and wash his hands.
Am I be U to be annoyed at this or am I being a hormonal crazy lady?

jones i can't believe the people saying they wouldn't let people use their loo! It may only be 10, or 15 minute job but how many of them would they have had previously....

Floggingmolly · 24/03/2016 10:24

Well op was one of those kindly people who did let the workman use her loo; and look what happened! He behaved as if he lived in the monkey house at the Zoo.

A few years ago we were having our kitchen and bathroom/toilet re-fitted,courtesy of the council. Now I understand that if you are lucky enough to have this done for free, you can't be too sniffy about workmen using your toilet. But what irked me was that EVERY morning, within 10 minutes of arriving, the same workman would disappear to the toilet for nearly half an hour with his newspaper, use half of my toilet roll, leave a skiddy mess in the toilet and a hideous stench that lingered for ages after. To make matters worse,he never washed his hands. After a week of this,my (adult) daughter hid the toilet roll one morning. Did it put him off? Did it heck. He started looking in the airing cupboard and the cabinet under the sink for one before he started his morning ritual!Shock

SoupDragon · 24/03/2016 17:38

Shit happens.

Toria2014 · 24/03/2016 17:40

We had our roof done recently. Workmen used the loo a lot. Not a single one washed their hands. I know this as the tap on the sink has high water pressure so you can hear it being used anywhere in the house. Dirty fuckers.

Floggingmolly · 24/03/2016 17:41

It does, Soup. It's where it happens that's the burning question.

HazelBite · 24/03/2016 17:52

You should see the state the loos get left in at our office. I won't say what my job is but the majority of these people using them are high earners and have titles.
The loos are unisex with basins in. There are loo brushes and a can of air freshener is in each loo.
65% of the time I have to clean the loo before I use it, or spray air freshener as I enter as the smell sometimes makes my eyes water!!
Its not just workman its just lazy people, who have no consideration for others.

VulcanWoman · 24/03/2016 17:57

That's right, you can't judge a book by it's cover.

Vintage45 · 24/03/2016 18:23

I personally wouldn't leave skid marks in my own toilet let alone anyone elses. Ewww. This bloke clearly lacks a bit of social etiquette.

To generalise about "workmen" though is stupid.

Orda1 · 24/03/2016 19:30

Why was the toilet seat up?

PerryHatter · 24/03/2016 19:39

Some people on this thread are worse than the skids.
I wouldn't be proud of treating a workman like shit in front of his colleagues because he left some skids in my toilet.

Crazypetlady · 24/03/2016 20:18

There was no reason to get so worked up vulcan I'm sorry you've clearly been deeply affected by workmen and their poo.

Jonesey1972 · 24/03/2016 20:31

Absolutely... I'm amazed that people think that, because they consider the workman to be ill mannered, it's justifiable to be incredibly rude back. Is that not hypocritical?!
Plus, when I raised this at work (I am THAT shocked by it) an ex-workman said if you don't let them use your loo they'll shit in your garden Smile.

booklooker · 24/03/2016 20:53

A quick scrub with the brush, rinse... and hey presto! Back to normal.

I really do not understand the common 'eugh!' reaction MNers have to pee and poo
We all do it, it's normal.

If someone in front of me fails to clean up, it's not the end of civilsation as we know it. I'll just whizz the loo brush round a couple of times.

All sorted in a matter of seconds
