cold toast

I've been in bed since Friday along with 4yr old DC. DH is lovely but yet again has made cold toast. He thinks it's fine to butter it after having made cup of tea. Very grateful for tea and toast but AIBU to say I would like my toast at least warm?

YANBU AT ALL - cold toast = YUCK!

KinkyAfro · 21/03/2016 11:15

Not unreasonable for you to ask.

I'd have been happy though, well done toast using cheapy white bread and left to go cold before buttering is my preference

PurpleDaisies · 21/03/2016 11:15

Ltb. That's all I have to say.

Get well soon. Flowers

Pinkheart5915 · 21/03/2016 11:16

Tell he you aren't a fan of cold toast.

Toast has to be warm with proper melting butter

JoMalones · 21/03/2016 11:19

Hurrah! I'm not alone! I don't mind it occasionally but all the time?! Eveey single time I ask for it hot and he acts like I've personally insulted him.

If I could get out of bed I would LTB Winkbut right now I get to drink honey and lemon in bed which thankfully is hot

I used to put toasted white bread in the fridge before buttering it.

Each to their own.

FellOutOfBedTwice · 21/03/2016 11:20

I like cold toast and ask DH to wait for it to go cold before buttering and he never listens. We should swap!

cozietoesie · 21/03/2016 11:21

Soggy cold toast with butter. Yum! Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 21/03/2016 11:22

Oh, you just reminded me I have some cold toast ready to be eaten. Cold with marmalade... Delicious!

liquidrevolution · 21/03/2016 11:24

Toast must be cold, then buttered. Buttering it and leaving it to go soggy is not on.

In fact my best friend and I met and bonded over our love of cold toast. On a camping trip we sat beside each other and each formed a triangle using two peices of toast so it got cold but not soggy underneath from sitting on a plate. Its a mutual weirdness that forms the basis of a lasting friendship. Grin

OnlyLovers · 21/03/2016 11:51

I quite like cold toast. But it's a bit annoying if you've asked for it hot and he's getting all affronted. My DP takes things like that as personal slights as well what a drama llama

liz70 · 21/03/2016 12:11

Definitely NU. Bread in toaster while tea is brewing, plate warmed - I pour a little water from the kettle on it, empty it down sink and dry off - and butter softened for a few secs in microwave. From toaster to warm plate, buttered then served immediately. Hot toast is a must.

roundmyway · 21/03/2016 12:13

You have to let toast cool before you spread it or the butter / margarine just dissolves into nothing !

liz70 · 21/03/2016 12:22

Nooo! Butter should melt into the hot toast, not stay on top in a claggy layer. It's wrong, wrong I tell you!

OzzieFem · 21/03/2016 12:22

Just tell him to stick it in the microwave for 10 secs before giving it to you. Works for me.

molyholy · 21/03/2016 12:24

I like cold toast that has been buttered whilst hot, so it's all floppy.

Cold butter on cold toast - NO!!!

LTB

MyBreadIsEggy · 21/03/2016 12:27

I will eat cold toast, as long as it was warm when it was buttered so the butter has melted. Nothing worse than cold toast, with cold, solid butter spread on it Confused

cozietoesie · 21/03/2016 12:32

So I'm holding a solo banner for the soggy brigade? Grin

JoMalones · 21/03/2016 12:41

I don't mind cold occasionally but he did break the rules but putting cold butter on cold toast!

OP posts:
OnlyLovers · 21/03/2016 12:42

I like cold soggy toast too, cozie!

cozietoesie · 21/03/2016 12:45

Ah.

Come over to the soggy side you all. You know it makes sense! Grin

Dunkling · 21/03/2016 13:12

LOVE cold toast. Tastes way better. But has to be buttered once cold so another known to put it in the fridge to hasten it along.

Inertia · 21/03/2016 13:17

YANBU.

Toast should be buttered straight from the toaster,so the butter melts in to make a delicious, hot , golden, chewy , toasty slice of loveliness.

Blueredballoon · 21/03/2016 13:18

I love cold, practically burnt toast with loads of butter Smile

LordoftheTits · 21/03/2016 13:19

Ooh I love buttering my toast after it has gone cold!
