Oh dear OP, I'm not really sure how you were expecting this thread to go, or what response you were expecting?

Swearing is a well known feature of Mumsnet.

It's not obligatory, many posters don't ever swear in their posts.

Some posters swear in a slightly self conscious giggly way.

Some posters swear in all their posts because that's just how they would express themselves in real life.

Some posters use swearing to hilarious effect.

MN is a really big site. With millions of users. It's unlikely to change.

You aren't the first poster to start a thread like this, I'm afraid that if you find it offensive and offputting it may be that it's not the site for you.

It's a fucking breath of fresh air in my opinion Grin I love a good swear up. Cunty to me is a bit twee, love saying the word cunt though.

It's Mumsnet so, yes, you're unreasonable for expecting anything different.

It's "4Chan for self-aggrandising housewives". Think that was Giles Coren.

I don't know why AIBU is so addictive*, as it really is an in-group of people ("we aren't trying to win your approval", an almost impenetrable number of acronyms) who often bully and are rude for the sake of it ("off you fuck then cuntychops") who may actually be nice (or tolerable) people when the mask of internet anonymity is removed. Some I'm sure, are actually as terminally insufferable in real life as their Mumsnet personalities.

*perhaps the same way people can't look away from a car crash.

I suspect OP knew the thread would go this way and is giddily reading all these responses. G'wan let yourself say it, G'wan (in the style of Mrs Doyle of Fr. Ted fame)., Feck, arse, feck, arse, feck, feck, feck!!

I always fucking surprised at the amount of fucking adults who are ducking surprised at fucking swearing.

Honestly, I can here because of the swearing.

I was a member on another parenting forum that punished swearing by blocking out and stealing all the punctuation . Always fucked me off.

This is actually what I really love about Mumsnet, unlike another forum I'm on. Swearing (I prefer swearing to snarky and snide comments and passive aggressiveness) and that people either have respect for grammar or use spell-check. Or both.

My favourate ever post was "OMG - even the dog's a cunt" (in a thread a vile ILs with a horrid dog).

You're being fucking unreasonable for not using the subject line to house a clue about what the thread is about Hmm

Off you fuck cuntychops is the best thing I've ever heard on mumsnet. If I didn't think some of my more poignant posts would be ruined by it, I'd have nicked it for my username.
