...to feel a little miffed that DH is out for the day with a female friend

My DH told me a few days ago that he'd be out cycling today. and would need the car. I asked a couple of days ago what time he would be back, and he said late afternoon. I happened to ask who he was cycling with (he belongs to a couple of cycling groups) and he said that it was a female friend. He has met her few times for lunch etc and they have been to a local town for the day together for lunch and sight seeing. They used to work together and I have to admit that they probably have more shared interests than we do! I have never met her, but can't help feeling a little put out that he's spending Sunday with her. AIBU?

BearPit?
Sounds like Brad Pitt to me... Is it what you meant Tartyflette?
Oh shit, I better call a friend !

Wink
Tartyflette · 24/03/2016 02:39

You work in the City and you don't know what a bear is? Or a pit? Hmm
Oh dear, were you being 'ironic' again?
And It was hardly an irrelevant comment when you have taken such pains to convey how well you know City types and mores.

Well, AnotherOW has said her male colleagues don't like her hanging around with them in the hotel bar when working overseas, because having a woman with them cramps their style when they are trying to pull women for extra marital sex, so I think there is no hope for her. She will not be the OW having sex on these men's yachts, I think, but hopes to be the wife who has been asked to stay home with her genetically superior kids so that her husband can entertain Russian glamour models on said yacht.

roundaboutthetown · 24/03/2016 08:16

Is the definition of an alpha male, a man who aggressively pursues multiple sexual partners and owns a yacht to fuck them in? Is this what women are supposed to be programmed to desire? And is this really genetic superiority, not twatishness? What is the genetic use of such behaviour in the modern world?

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 24/03/2016 08:16

Was the 'Russian' strictly necessary ? I work with some lovely Russian women Altough one has a slightly over friendly relationship with a partner

roundaboutthetown · 24/03/2016 08:18

You work with glamour models?

roundaboutthetown · 24/03/2016 08:33

The Russian bit was just because I find the slightly Slavic look quite attractive!

bishboschone · 24/03/2016 08:47

Blimey this thread went bonkers , where is the op ?

roundaboutthetown · 24/03/2016 08:50

The OP got boring. Bonkers is an interesting choice of word, in the circumstances! Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 24/03/2016 09:13

Oh I don't know, the OP probably got bored. Rude to call her 'boring', no? I find the side-chat and ganging up pretty boring but, each to their own, some women live for that.

I find the picking at AnotherOW very telling and extremely pathetic, just like gangs of girls at school. Fine to disagree/not like what she says and say so but this, this just sounds spiteful.

BoneyBackJefferson · 24/03/2016 09:13

AnotherOW
"Now, of course, some people conduct affairs in the back of a family car, and I am not arguing with that. I suppose having a car to oneself and a night out in a local can be considered an 'opportunity' also. However, the back of a family car would never be as tempting for OW/OM as, say, a luxurious hotel suite or a private yacht, hence such an individual would be severely limited in their choice of a partner to engage in extramarital relationship with."

Althought you say that you travel the world, your view is rather limited and naive.

dilys4trevor · 24/03/2016 09:28

Also find the side arguments dreary but have to say that I find Another's view of the world very limited. It sounds like you have never met a normal person in your life!

The vast majority of affairs take place among normal people with normal lives and normal jobs. Villages, little towns, desk jobs, average-looking people, mediocre socio-economic status. Because that's the life most people live. Relationships break down through these sorts of affairs all the time. Passionate liaisons take place and some people you would consider of too low ranking to ever have any real opportunity have the most exciting time of it. I don't doubt the rich pickings of wealthy dynamic men are very attractive and make cheating even easier, but you are talking a lot about a tiny slither of society and basing a world view on it.

roundaboutthetown · 24/03/2016 09:35

I didn't say the opening poster as a person was boring, I said her opening post (OP) had got boring - it had, given that she hasn't come back to expand upon it. Also, I have not ganged up on anyone, I just strongly disagree with AnotherOW's view of what makes an alpha male and think she is going to make a serious mistake if she marries the sort of man she has described.

TransvisionTramp · 24/03/2016 09:36

Must. Stop. Reading. Thread.

CockacidalManiac · 24/03/2016 11:19

Being as she's had posts deleted, I'd suggest the exact opposite.

leedy · 24/03/2016 12:09

In fairness, if you will come into a thread and make grand sweeping pronouncements based on your own limited experience about ALL MEN and ALL WOMEN, then claim that anyone who disagrees with you is "in denial" or that you have "touched a nerve" while constructing weird straw-man arguments ("You all think your partners have never fancied anyone except you, ever, and never masturbate! Ha, you deluded fools!"), you frankly deserve all the piss-taking you get.

And really, I don't think people were being mean. I just thought she was funny/pompous, and may possibly get a bit of a land in a few years' time.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 24/03/2016 13:36

Indeed Cockacid but the fact that AnotherOW's posts have been deleted just demonstrates that they were reported. All things being equal, there are quite a few from other posters that should have followed suit but didn't. Strange that.

Blimey, if only non-pompous, PC, non-critical amusing posts were left to stand, MN would be a shadow of itself. I kind of like the fact that there's room for everybody's viewpoint here, subject to the rules..

CockacidalManiac · 24/03/2016 13:39

It appears that MNHQ disagree

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 24/03/2016 13:53

Not at all. MNHQ only delete posts that get reported. Said poster hasn't been popular in their views on this thread so has been reported.

It is quite something this thread Grin

ToastDemon · 24/03/2016 14:02

No-one was bullying anyone. Be an arse, get your arse handed to you.
At least in this instance is was all quite surreal and funny.

Who knows which posts have been reported? I don't, you don't.

Aerfen · 24/03/2016 14:19

Did the OP ever come back with a report on the outcome of her OHs cycle date?

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/03/2016 14:28

I wouldn't like it at all. I know men can have female friends but I think spending the day with one for lunch, sightseeing , once you are married is not normal. I would be very jealous and completely trust my partner. he just wouldn't and neither would I.
