To think I actually have SIX jobs?

Find it very amusing when someone asks me 'so what do you do?' as I could be here all day listing everything... events, characters, nanny, model, dance, recruit..... Sleep.... Do it all again Lol

I should just say "portfolio career" or carry around my CV with me everywhere when asked!

OP posts:
TaylorSwiftMakesMyShitItch · 16/03/2016 18:31

Well don't I feel like a massive dick for sticking up for the OP Grin

TaylorSwiftMakesMyShitItch · 16/03/2016 18:33

If you model and dance for free, I don't think that counts as a job...

Floggingmolly · 16/03/2016 18:34

The band, Seeyou. Love them Grin

iMatter · 16/03/2016 18:38

Why would anyone ask you to model for them as a favour?

Model what?

Do you mean one of those hairdresser's models who gets a super cheap haircut by agreeing to let the junior have a go at her hair?

Or do you model for the WI nudey calendar?

JessTitchener · 16/03/2016 18:38

Anyone else waiting for the Op to start telling us about a wonderful business opportunity she has for us?
Something involving aloe by any chance?

LagunaBubbles · 16/03/2016 18:44

It's Younique isn't it

zeezeek · 16/03/2016 18:47

Pippa did you just start this thread so you can tell us yet again that you run a successful events company or whatever it actually is?

sparechange · 16/03/2016 19:13

iMatter, a friend of mine makes accessories for weddings - tiaras and shrugs and the like
When she did her website, she asked a few friends who could still fit in their dresses to put their wedding dresses on with some of her creations, so she could take photos to use online
I did it as a favour, but today I realised I need to add 'model' to my CV, which I must also carry around with me

zeezeek · 16/03/2016 19:19

I was once asked to pose for a picture for a Uni prospectus so guess I'm a model too!

JessTitchener · 16/03/2016 19:23

Oh, me and DD1 were once in a leaflet for the local library. Off to practice my blue steel.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 16/03/2016 19:25

I run my own successful events company

Dae ye, Aye?

Grin
RortyCrankle · 16/03/2016 19:27

Oh OP, another ad for your party planning business very thinly disguised as a post about how you are, in fact, Wonderwoman? We know you love talking about your businesss but nobody else does.

Stillunexpected · 16/03/2016 19:33

I love talking about it! - we had actually noticed that, Pippa.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 16/03/2016 19:34

Ooh, my friend asked me to dress up as a Disney princess for her dd's party, what does that make me? Apart from an embarrassment Grin

NewLife4Me · 16/03/2016 19:42

I used to have a successful event management company prior to dc.
It was hard work and very enjoyable, so much diversity as well.
I gave it all up when had dc as didn't fancy the stress anymore, but huge profits and salary.
At the start of the 90's lots of people started doing it, they even offered a degree in the subject.
Quality started to go downhill as nobody seemed to offer the old school customer service that the industry so desperately needed. So many set up and fell by the wayside.
Ooh I could talk all day OP.

curren · 16/03/2016 19:42

I was a model as a kid and teenager and I actually got paid....real money.

I don't have 'model' on my cv.

I did a photo shoot for my friends gym recently. Wonder if I need to update my CV. 'Fitness model'

NewLife4Me · 16/03/2016 19:45

It does sound like you just dress up for kids parties OP.
What outside contractors can you supply?
What sort of budgets are you used to managing?
What is your typical clientele/ market?
Can you offer a bespoke service?

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 16/03/2016 20:16

Why not just say "I run an events company but my real passion is for dancing".

All jobs involve lots of different things - particularly if you run your on business but mine does even though I work in an office.

Thatrabbittrickedme · 16/03/2016 20:40

NewLife OP organises premium events for a celebrity clientele dontcha know? A bit mean to say its just 'dress up for kids parties' its so much more than that. She's incredibly successful I understand

NewLife4Me · 16/03/2016 21:00

Sometimes Mnet is like a parallel universe.
In the 90's the real event managers with a small business were questioning the bandwagon entertainers.
Not that there's anything wrong with being an entertainer, thats where my roots are.
I used to balloon model, do magic tricks and was a children's entertainer.
I sang and danced but wasn't really a dancer, just got by. Then I added a disco for functions and events for all occasions, and here offering tailor made setlists.
Then I began to add acts and bands, teaming up with my dh who is a musician.
Between us we could cover the whole entertainment package for the top end market, bespoke as well.
We could advise and were given budgets from corporates, public sector, to begin with.
We grew by networking outside contractors at the events we attended and then used them for our own engagements. Everything you could need from suppliers of toilets, parking attendants, bar and waiting contractors, chefs, mobile food suppliers, just for a start. I won't bore you with having to know about H&S of events and liaising with public sector officers.
We charged quite a lot for our services as were front runners with not much competition to begin with. We worked throughout East Anglia and South.
We were a small business Grin You know, that Managed events
The clue is in the title.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 16/03/2016 21:14

...but were you a model?

NewLife4Me · 16/03/2016 21:19

Paul

I'm 4ft 10.5 the .5 is very important. Not model material really, but I'm a good clown. Not that I act in public at all. I'm just one iykwim.

Definitely not a model, but not Jimmy Krankie either.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 16/03/2016 21:25

I was a model and a tv personality. I'm now in customer service whilst I dabble in singing, dancing, cooking and origami swan making.

ghostyslovesheep · 16/03/2016 21:37

I was Pope for a bit - got bored - but I was very successful at it Grin

PaulAnkaTheDog · 16/03/2016 21:45

I was Batman as well as the above. The damn suit chafed to fuck though, so had to give that shit up.
